The executive vice president of the South Korean company lets slip some details about the next top of the range. Expect a super-intelligent personal assistant
This time there's a "mark of authenticity". About three months after the official presentation of the device, scheduled for February 26 in Barcelona during the World Mobile Congress, Samsung leaks some official details about its next flagship smartphone, the Galaxy S8.
During a meeting with the press, the executive vice president of the South Korean giant, Rhee Injong, has in fact confirmed the presence of a voice assistant "powered" by artificial intelligence and ready to respond to every request and need of the unthousands. In short, Samsung wants to compete on equal terms with direct competitors (Apple and Google above all, but also Microsoft and Amazon) and in this perspective the acquisition of the startup Viv, concluded in the second half of October 2016, is to be considered as a fundamental step towards autonomy from other assistants.
Open to collaboration
As pointed out by the same Injong, the new Samsung voice assistant will be open to the collaboration of third-party developers, who will be able to access the API and thus create applications and chatbots based on South Korean artificial intelligence. Not only that: by exploiting machine learning algorithms, the personal assistant will be able to acquire new features and new capabilities based also on the data and experiences of software developed by third-party programmers. In short, the artificial intelligence for Samsung smartphones will be able to improve and adapt to the most diverse situations. Un aspetto fondamentale, visto che la casa sudcoreana ha intenzione di integrarlo all’interno della propria smart home e renderlo così la “voce ufficiale” di tutti i dispositivi ed elettrodomestici del gruppo.
