Hoversurf Scorpion, the flying cab will arrive by 2030

In the Asian city, traffic is one of the main problems, that's why the Ministry of Transport thought of Hoversurf Scorpion to streamline traffic

Imagine getting out of the office, putting on your helmet and riding home in a drone. No, it's not science fiction but a project by a U.S. startup that's catching on in Singapore. The Asian city is looking for an aerial solution to traffic congestion on its roads during peak hours. And Hoversurf Scorpion drones seem to be the ideal solution.

This is not a project thrown out by some company to receive sponsorship. It's a real long-term plan devised by Singapore's Ministry of Transport. The idea is to equip the city with a fleet of flying drone cabs by 2030. The Singapore government has also made it known that several negotiations have already begun with many drone manufacturers to get a total idea of the costs necessary to finance the project and especially to start the first tests of drone-taxis with human passengers on board. According to Pang Kin Keong, secretary of the Ministry of Transport, air traffic in the coming years will not only affect domestic and international contexts but also urban areas.

Singapore and traffic

The traffic is one of the main problems of Singapore. The Asian city is not very large but in return it is densely populated. This creates constant traffic jams and long lines of cars. The government in the past has tried different solutions to decrease the problem. Car owners have been taxed in a more important way and tolls to less frequented roads have been lowered to make the traffic flow in different areas. Expedients, however, that have not paid off. In addition to drone cabs, the city has also been testing driverless cars to travel over buildings or underground. Singapore has also carried out research on autonomous driving in order to create shared cabs to ease traffic congestion during working hours and evenings. The most concrete new plan, however, is the Hoversurf Scorpion. Drones very similar to motorcycles aesthetically that would allow to streamline, by 2030, the traffic in the city.

What is Hoversurf Scorpion

Hoversurf Scorpion is a new vehicle created by a U.S. startup that promises to revolutionize traffic. Halfway between a drone and a motorcycle, Hoversurf Scorpion can "take off" and accompany the user around the city. Singapore has decided to use Hoversurf Scorpion to streamline traffic and it is not certain that in the coming years other cities will follow the example of the Asian state.
