Mountain View-based company officially unveils its new operating system that will be more secure and improve smartphone performance
More details are coming about Android O, Google's next mobile operating system. As expected, the Californian giant has chosen the usual appointment Google I/O 2017, the annual conference dedicated to developers, to officially present, along with other news, Android O.
The new operating system of the green robot had, in fact, already been anticipated several times in recent months. First with Hiroshi Lockheimer, the senior vice-president of Android, who had published a tweet, then it was the same company based in Mountain View, with a post on its blog, to launch the first Developer Preview. And now, from the Google I/O also came the second Developer Preview. Disappointed all those who expected information about the name of the operating system. Google, in fact, has not clarified whether the O refers, as many claim, to Oreo, known brand of milk cookies.
The news of Android O
The new version of Android O is available in Beta mode and can be downloaded by registering with the program. The new operating system includes some interesting new features. Android O will increase the security of mobile devices, will have new emoji, will be optimized to reduce battery consumption and will improve the general performance of smartphones. Android O, then, will include other interesting features: Picture in Picture, for example, will allow you to continue watching a video in a small portion of the screen, while you're using another application. It will also have a slightly different and more intuitive design. And with Notification Dots, notifications will be improved as well.
Another new feature of Android O concerns how to access applications. The operating system, in fact, will be able to log in automatically based on the credentials saved on Google. If, for example, we entered Facebook from Chrome, when we install the social app on the smartphone, Android O will remember the credentials used previously.
As mentioned, to "try" the new Android O is sufficient to register to the Beta program. The green robot system is not available for everyone. At the moment it can be downloaded on the Google Pixel, Nexus 5X and 6P.
