There are many reasons why we decide to follow one TV series over another. Often if we want to disconnect from everyday problems and have fun nothing is better than a sitcom to feel lighter or we decide to focus in international intrigues, to not think.
In the streaming landscape there are several titles that we can choose in which to find more poignant and current issues that lead us to reflect. However, there are some stories that we follow because we have the hope that they affect us more deeply, almost as if to respond to an unconscious desire to take a break from everyday life, but also from ourselves to understand ourselves better. Teacher nasce dall’omonimo flm diretto dalla stessa regista Hannah Fidell che è creatrice di questa serie. La serie ha debuttato qualche giorno fa sulla piattaforma Disney + nella sezione Star. Le vicende narrate in A Teacher raccontano della storia di Claire Wilson, insegnante d’inglese, che intraprende una relazione sessuale con un suo studente 17 enne.
Il rapporto tra i due diventa morboso e ossessivo oltre a destare sconcerto sull’intera comunità con conseguenze drammatiche. Gli episodi di questa mini serie sono dieci. I due interpreti principali Kate Mara di House of Cards e Nick Robinson sono davvero bravi a far emergere i profli più ambigui e tormentati dei loro personaggi.
Dr.Death
Il titolo di questa miniserie non lascia tanto spazio all’immaginazione: è in arrivo per il 12 settembre Dr.Death sulla piattaforma StarzPlay. Christopher Duntsch, medico chirurgo condannato per aver volontariamente causato ad almeno 33 pazienti gravi danni, è il protagonista principale. Insomma dopo questa mini serie vi mancherà Dr. House Joshua Jackson, già interprete di Dawson Creek e di Fringe, torna con questa mini serie tratta dal podcast omonimo che racconta una storia vera.
Medico malato di narcisismo cronico riesce a sfuggire per diverso tempo a dubbi e sospetti di parenti e amici, ma poi l’epilogo sarà solo uno. Dr.Death will be kept under control by two exceptional colleagues: Christian Slater who plays the role of Randall Kirby and Robert Henderson, played by Alec Baldwin.
The Act
Another exciting series that you can find on StrazPlay is The Act: a chilling story. Gypsy Blanchard played by Joey King is a young girl growing up in a wheelchair, convinced by her mother that she has a terrible disease. The mother, an obsessive woman, Dee Dee Blanchard, has the face of Patricia Arquette, who won an Emmy for this extraordinary performance.
So far, almost everything is normal, except that Gypsy discovers that her mother has pretended and lied about her infirmity. It is then that the young woman commissions the murder of her mommy.
