The smartphone from Apple has not yet been released and is already a record: boom of 2 million orders for iPhone 12 in just 24 hours
It will be released on October 23 but, in the first 24 hours of pre-sale opened on October 16, iPhone 12 has already exceeded 2 million units sold. An unparalleled record that of the next model of Apple's smartphone, which has already shattered the previous record achieved by its predecessor, iPhone 11.
This estimate, made by analyst Ming-Chi Kuo of TF International Securities, would therefore sanction a clear superiority of the model coming out in the coming days compared to last year's model, sold in almost the same period. Surpassing all the Apple phones launched on the market in previous years, iPhone 11 had sold during the first 24 hours of presale 800 thousand units, then reaching 12 million at the end of the first weekend. For the iPhone 12, Kuo predicted a slight decline over the weekend, with total sales expected to reach around 9 million. These data are of great interest for an evaluation of the sales trend, especially in light of the fact that Apple has stopped publishing reports on its smartphones since two years.
iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro: sales surge in China
Kuo's analysis shows how the selling price of iPhone 11 has influenced the pre-order phase of the new iPhone 12, causing a lower demand than expected. Moreover, to have the better of the basic version of the new born of Apple would have been the most advanced model, iPhone 12 Pro, at least on the Chinese market. To make the difference in this case would have been mainly the greater availability of 5G network on the territory of China, a nation that has covered between 35% and 45% of the requests of this specific version.
iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max: lower demand than expected?
The fate, always speaking in Chinese perspective, would be different for iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 12 Pro Max, respectively the smaller version of iPhone 12 and the version with larger screen of iPhone 12 Pro.
The sales, with pre-sale starting from November 6 and free sale from November 13 of the same month, could be much lower than their counterparts.
In particular, to weigh on the iPhone 12 Mini would be the screen too small, we speak of 5.4 inches compared to 6.1 inches of the regular model, and the lack of support for dual SIM card, a feature particularly popular in Asia but with which the smaller model of Apple is unfortunately not equipped.
