Apple Tv+ is the Cupertino-based company's new video streaming service. TV series and original content will be produced. Available from November 1
Compete with Netflix and other movie and TV series streaming services, focusing on both content quality and price. Possible? According to Apple, yes: the Cupertino-based giant has just launched its long-awaited Apple TV+ service, which has been much talked about in recent months but is apparently even better than expected.
Unlike what was initially leaked, Apple will launch the new service on November 1 worldwide.
In contrast to what was initially leaked, Apple will launch the new service worldwide on November 1. Or almost: at launch, 100 countries will be served by Apple TV+, which can be used via the Apple TV app on iPhone smartphones, iPad tablets, Apple TV boxes, iPod Touch, Mac computers, some smart TVs from major manufacturers or by connecting to tv.apple.com via Safari, Chrome or Firefox browsers. The content will be translated into almost 40 languages and will have subtitles for people with hearing disabilities and audio descriptions in eight languages.
Apple TV+: how much does it cost
At Cupertino they decided to enter the streaming services business with an extremely aggressive attack price: only 4.99 euros per month, with a 7-day free trial. It will be possible to cancel the subscription at any time, but up to one day before the monthly renewal date (otherwise you will pay the next month at full price). Up to six people in the same household can share the same Apple TV+ subscription, logging in with their Apple ID.
Apple TV+: how it works
Those who don't have an Apple hardware product on which to install the Apple TV app (which will soon be ported to some smart TVs and Amazon Fire TV, LG, Roku, Sony and VIZIO platforms) can watch Apple TV+ from their browser. Those using an Apple product, on the other hand, will need to install iOS 12.3 or later, tvOS 12.3 or later or macOS Catalina. It will also be possible to send the signal from Apple TV+ to the smart TV via AirPlay by upgrading to iOS 12.3 or macOS Catalina.
Apple TV+: original and exclusive content
The Apple TV+ catalog will be packed with exclusive content and original Apple productions. As early as November 1, the following original productions will be available: See, The Morning Show, Dickinson, For All Mankind, Helpsters, Snoopy in Space, Ghostwriter, The Mother of Elephants and a special Oprah Winfrey show. Exclusive content for Apple TV+, meanwhile, will include Servant, Truth Be Told, Little America, The Banker and Hala.
