In Liguria, Tuscany, Lazio and Sardinia work has begun to change frequencies and some Sky channels are no longer visible. Here's what to do
Step by step we are approaching the switch-off that will take Italian television into a new era. By June 30, 2022 all Italian residents will have to have a television set or a decoder capable of receiving the DVB T-2 signal, the new generation digital terrestrial television that is characterized by better picture quality and a wider range of content.
Although there are still more than two years to go before the final switch-off, the work to accommodate the digital terrestrial 2.0 has already begun: in some Italian regions is already freeing the 700MHz band, the one that will be used by 5G to offer a faster data connection. The regions involved are Sardinia, Liguria, Tuscany and Lazio. In Sardinia the works have started in mid-January and are already starting to create problems: some channels are no longer visible. Many users thought it was a problem of their televisions, but in fact the fault is the change of frequencies: to see the TV is necessary to make a simple retuning.
To be affected are mainly Sky channels on digital terrestrial: Sky Sport Serie A, Premium Stories and National Geographic, just to name an example. Here's how to retune the channels of Sky on digital terrestrial.
Sky on digital terrestrial: why you have to retune the channels
Sky has published a guide on its official website in which he announced that in some regions (Sardinia, Liguria, Tuscany and Lazio) there may be problems with the vision of the channels. The reason is very simple: a change of frequencies on which the channels are hosted. To continue to see the channels you simply need to retune your TV set or digital terrestrial decoder. Molto probabilmente nei prossimi mesi sarà necessario sintonizzare i canali almeno un paio di volte.
