The new digital terrestrial is ready to make its official debut: here's who needs to change their TV and when
Progress is underway to launch the new digital terrestrial. The switch-off from the current signal to the new one, called DVB-T2, should take place by June 30, 2022. During this transition period, work will start in all regions so that there will be no problems on the day the new signal is activated.
In order not to be unprepared for "day X", it is necessary to know the starting dates of the work, region by region, and, above all, what needs to be done in order to continue watching digital terrestrial channels. With the new signal transmission technology changes and unfortunately many televisions will not be able to receive the signal. For this reason, the Ministry of Economic Development has established the Bonus TV, an incentive of 50 euros aimed at the most disadvantaged sections of the population who will be forced to change their TV sets or buy a new decoder. Here is who and when they will have to change their TV set.
What is DVB T-2
Before understanding who will be able to continue to watch digital terrestrial TV without having to change their TV set, it is necessary to explain what DVB T-2 is. It is the new television standard chosen by MiSE to free up the frequencies occupied by digital terrestrial channels to make room for 5G. The DVB T-2 uses a better signal decoding technology that allows a better quality of video content and supports a resolution up to 8K.
New Digital Terrestrial, who should change the TV
According to the latest indications, there are more than 2 million televisions in the homes of Italians that support the new digital terrestrial.

For this reason it is advisable to carry out the automatic re-tuning.
Which TVs and decoders are compatible with DVB-T2
To know which TVs are compatible with the new DVB T-2 signal, it is necessary to check that the "lativù" sticker, which guarantees the technical and qualitative characteristics of the TV sets, is present on the box. Alternatively, the presence of the DVB T-2 stamp is required. On the site of the initiative there is also an updated list of all the models that can be purchased to continue watching television.
