After the great success of the TV series How I Met Your Mother now fans get a good news: is coming the spinoff with Hilary Duff as the protagonist
The news that fans of the TV series How I Met Your Mother have been waiting for a long time has arrived. The spin-off sequel will be made with Hilary Duff as the protagonist and with the title How I Met Your Father: 10 episodes that will follow the style of the popular series of creators Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.
The realization of the spin-off sequel is possible thanks to the streaming platform Hulu, which commissioned the TV series entrusted, however, to the creators Isac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, already co-creators of This is Us and Love Victor. For Bays and Thomas, however, the role will be executive producers along with the lead actress Duff. Although it is not yet clear how the two TV series will be connected, what is certain is that the style of storytelling and directing will be very similar. Fans will be able to get attached to the female equivalent of Ted Mosby: Sophie, and all of her quirky friends.
How I Met Your Father: What's the spin-off about
The protagonist of the How I Met Your Mother spin-off is Sophie, played by Hilary Duff. As stated in the official synopsis, "Sophie and her close-knit group of friends are trying to figure out who they are, what they want out of life, and how to fall in love in the age of dating apps and opportunities. The plot will certainly follow that of the successful series that ended 7 years ago after 9 funny seasons, but it is not clear how the two series will be connected and at what point of the events.
It is not the first time that a spin-off of the popular TV series is attempted. Back in 2014, CBS commissioned the pilot episode of How I Met Your Dad starring Greta Gerwig and with Meg Ryan as the "mother" narrator. The project foundered, however, returning to interest with a second attempt by Aptaker and Berger that has been in the drawer since 2016 and will see the light soon.
How I Met Your Father: cast and creators
The creators of the spin-off are Aptaker and Berger, who have found the approval of the creators of the original series. In a press release, Bays and Thomas themselves passed the baton to their colleagues, wishing them well in telling a new "legendary" story.
The press release from Bays and Thomas reads, "I'm going to tell you guys an incredible story: it's the story of how two writers were lucky enough to make their dream television series for nine seasons and now they get to pass the baton to a new creative team that has an incredible new story to tell, the story of How I Met Your Father."
Duff will not only be starring, but also producing the spinoff along with Bays and Thomas, co-authors of HIMYM, and said, "I've been incredibly lucky in my career to play some wonderful characters and can't wait to play the role of Sophie. As a huge fan of How I Met Your Mother, I'm honored and also a little nervous that Carter and Craig are trusting me with their sequel. Isaac and Elizabeth are brilliant and I can't wait to work with them."
