Just for the latter reason we may decide we want to delete a comment under an Instagram post because it is offensive or inappropriate, or we may want to delete one written by us because it is full of grammatical errors. But how do you delete a comment on Instagram? Nothing complicated, you just have to follow a few simple steps.
Depending on the type of device you use, some mechanisms may differ slightly from each other, but always with the utmost ease.
How to delete a comment on Instagram
Deleting a comment on Instagram left by a user is a simple operation. If you're using an Android smartphone or iPhone, first of all you need to access through the app downloaded on your phone.
Once you're in you need to go to your profile, clicking on the little man icon in the bottom right corner, to search for the photo or video of our interest, containing the comment we want to delete. Alternatively, you can access the section of recent activities through the little heart symbol.
After selecting the photo or video, click on the message icon, shaped like a cloud, to find the comment you want to delete. Once you've found it, just hold down on it, if you're using Android, or swipe from right to left, if you're using iPhone, and click on the dustbin button to delete it.
If you're using Instagram from the Web instead, you must first access the platform's home page and sign in. Go to your profile by clicking on the little man icon in the top right corner or in the recent activities section via the little heart. Once you have selected the photo or video and found the comment, just click on the three dots next to the comment and select "delete".
How to delete my comments on Instagram
Differently if you want to delete a comment written by us, the operation will be slightly different in the preliminary stage, but always in the utmost simplicity. So, here's how to delete our comments on Instagram.
After accessing the Instagram App, from Android smartphone or iPhone, just scroll the Home screen, if the post is recent, otherwise tap on the magnifying glass icon at the bottom left to search the profile of the user who posted the photo or video under which you left the comment you want to delete.
Once you find the post, the steps are the same as those described above. So, after clicking on the posts icon and finding your comment, just hold down if you're using Android, otherwise swipe from right to left if you're using iPhone and click on the dustbin to delete it.
The operation will look pretty much the same if you're using Instagram from the Web. After logging in to the home page, just slide the Home screen or search for the user profile via the magnifying glass icon and find the post of interest with our comment that we intend to delete. Finally, just click on the three dots next to the comment and select "delete".
How to block comments under some posts
Alternatively, you can also decide to block comments under some posts. Again, this is a very simple operation that takes a few minutes, but it can only be done via smartphone. Here's how to do it.
First of all you have to access the Instagram App and go to your profile, tapping on the little man icon in the bottom right corner. Once you locate the post on which you want to disable comments, just select it, click on the three dots in the top right corner and choose the "disable comments" option. In case you change your mind, just select "enable comments".
If you want, this operation can be done before the publication itself. That is, after choosing the photo or video you want to publish, adding the filters and the caption, just choose the "advanced settings" and select "disable comments". Finally, proceed with the publication of the post.
If, however, you want to prevent some people from commenting on our posts, in this case you must go to your profile and from the menu at the top right access to "settings". In the section on privacy select "comments". Here the possibilities are two: "allow comments from" to allow everyone, only followers or only those who follow you to comment, or "block comments from" to block individually some users.
