If you have forgotten the passwords saved on your Android device and don't know how to retrieve them: here's how to do it, how to save them and when to change them
While surfing the Internet from your smartphone it often happens that you have to log in to various sites, or the Wi-Fi network, or even apps that require a password, thus entering your credentials. Normally these are saved the first time you log in, so you don't have to re-enter them for subsequent times. This is undoubtedly a great help, because it gives you quick access to all the content you need, but on the other hand the risk is that you forget your login details, because you never use them. That´s why it´s good to be able to recover saved passwords on Android at any time. How to do it?
How to see saved passwords on Android
To see saved passwords on Android you need to use Smart Look. Normally, this feature starts automatically the moment you connect a Google account to your device. To check it, go to the settings and select "Google", then the item "Smart look for passwords". You should then check that this item is set to "on".
This allows you to see all the passwords that have been stored at each access. If, on the other hand, this feature is not on, there are other ways to recover passwords on Android. For example, continuing in the screen that has opened, you can click on the "Saved passwords" section and then on "Google Account". Here you will have to stretch by entering your Google login credentials. You can then go to view a series of domains for which Google has saved the login credentials.
View saved passwords on Android from Google Chrome
To view saved passwords on Android from Google Chrome, simply launch the application and click on the three dots symbol, usually found in the upper right corner. From there you'll have to select the item "Settings" and then "Password", which will allow you to access the area of your credentials, where you can see the list of saved logins. Also in this case it will be sufficient to view the password through the eye-shaped icon. Also in that menu you'll be able to delete passwords you no longer use, or export them.
Chrome can then help you access a website whose password you had saved. Once you open the app, all you need to do is log in to the site you had already visited. If you have only one name and password saved, Chrome will automatically fill in the fields. If, on the other hand, there are several saved login accounts, just choose the one you want to use at that moment and see the saved passwords on Android. Finally, if the app doesn't offer any passwords, you'll have to click on the key to see which ones are possible.
When to change saved passwords on Android
Sometimes it may be necessary to change saved passwords on Android. This is especially if it turns out that a username and password combination has been compromised somehow, due to a data leak in an app. This means that such combination has been published online. In this case, it is advisable to change your password as soon as possible, in order to keep its security intact. In this case Chrome will send you alerts explaining the situation and allowing you to change your login details. Even if you don't receive any alerts, you can always check if your passwords have been compromised in any way. Just open the Chrome app, go to the "Settings" menu and then click on "Password", and then on "Check password".
Recovery Wi-Fi passwords
Also for using Wi-Fi it can be useful to know how to recover stored passwords on Android. In this case you will need to download an app, called Wi-Fi Key Recovery. It will allow you to quickly access the files in which your accesses are stored. First of all, you'll need to download the app. Once you start it, you'll have to grant access to root permissions by clicking on grant. This will be enough to view all the Wi-Fi passwords that are stored on your smartphone.
How to save passwords on Android
If you don't have any saved passwords on your Android, you might want to create a database for it. There are some special applications for this purpose, from which you can always recover your passwords. One of them is KeepPass2Android, which is free and easy to use. After downloading it to your device, start it up and click on "Create a new database". Here you'll be able to decide whether to save the file in the .kdbx format or use a cloud storage service. Then choose a password to protect your archives.
