To record calls and video calls on WhatsApp you need to use external apps. Here's how to do it and what are the rules to be respected
The recording of calls is a feature increasingly present on smartphones and there are many applications that allow you to do so (Android is also planning to integrate natively on the mobile operating system, in countries where it is allowed). In Italy recording calls is allowed by law, but it is not possible to share them externally. Our advice is to always warn the caller that you are recording the call.
Few people know this, but even calls made on WhatsApp can be recorded. We must be clear: there is no native functionality that allows you to record calls directly from WhatsApp, but you must use third-party apps or tools present by default on the smartphone. More and more manufacturers are integrating a button in the Phone app interface to easily record calls. For those who prefer slightly more professional tools, with the ability to replay calls and save them to their cloud space, there are third-party apps that you can install on your smartphone. Here's how to record WhatsApp calls on your smartphone.
How to record WhatsApp calls on Android
Recording a call on WhatsApp can be very useful especially if it's a business call. With the limit of participants increased up to eight people, WhatsApp is increasingly a candidate to be a great alternative to the many applications for video conferencing.
For Android users there are many solutions to record a WhatsApp call. As mentioned it is necessary to turn to an external app, as the function is not present on the messaging app. In recent years more and more manufacturers are integrating an app to record calls: to see if it is present on your smartphone, just go to the app drawer and check if "Call Recorder" is present. In case you don't have it, we suggest you install the "Recorder" app made directly by Google or "Call Recorder - Cube ACR" which integrates perfectly with WhatsApp.
Once you have installed the app, you can record a call on WhatsApp with Android. How to do it? Very simple: first start a recording via the app and then go to WhatsApp, choose the contact or group where you want to make the call and start it. The app will automatically record the entire call.
How to record WhatsApp calls on iPhone
For those who have an iPhone, the issue becomes much more complicated. iOS, in fact, does not allow third-party apps to simultaneously access the smartphone and the microphone, making it impossible to record calls on WhatsApp. What to do, then? There is an alternative solution, although a bit more complicated: use an external recorder. Just activate the "Speakerphone" function in the WhatsApp call and record it via an external device. The quality won't be great, but there are no other alternative solutions. Again, always remember to warn the other party that the WhatsApp call will be recorded.
