The start of the men's elite cycling world championship is scheduled for Sunday, September 29 at 9:40 am. The arrival expected between 16:00 and 16:30, depending on the daily hourly average.
The Italians competing at the 2019 Cycling World Championships
CT Cassani has summoned ten cyclists: Matteo Trentin, Sonny Colbrelli, Diego Ulissi, Davide Cimolai, Alberto Bettiol, Salvatore Puccio, Gianni Moscon, Giovanni Visconti, Kristian Sbaragli (reserve) and Davide Formolo (reserve).
The team leader will be Davide Trentin, who will try to get into the right breakaway and arrive in a small group to make his skills count in the sprint. He will have faithful followers to whom he can ask for help: Sonny Colbrelli, Diego Ulissi and Alberto Bettiol. Ready also the plan B in the case in which Trentin does not make it to follow the rhythm of the strongest. It's Bettiol, this year's winner of the Tour of Flanders.

There is no Italian among the favorites. For this world championship we start in the second line, ready, however, to surprise. In the list of favorites we find Mathieu Van der Poel, world champion of cyclo-cross and that this year has shown everyone his skills also on the road. The course seems to be designed on his characteristics. It's impossible not to mention Julian Alaphilippe, back from a 10 in the report card season. Winner of many classics (Milan - Sanremo, Fleche Wallonne) and third at the Tour de France, he wants to crown his season with the world champion's jersey. Also Belgium plays its best cards: Van Avermaet, Gilbert and the very young Evenepoel, first 2000 to win a classic (San Sebastian classic).
Slightly more detached in the list of the favorites is Peter Sagan, winner of three of the last four world championships. This year the Slovakian has seemed to be a bit down in terms of form, but he wants to redeem himself at the world championships. Valverde and Lutsenko should also be taken into consideration.
