The Chinese manufacturer also launches its 5G smartphone in our country. Compared to the phone launched a year ago we find the 5G modem and water cooling
Also Huawei now has a 5G smartphone for sale on the European market, including Italy. It is in fact arrived the new Huawei Mate 20 X 5G, which differs from the already known Mate 20 only for the connection to the fast next-generation network and an advanced cooling system. The connection is made through the new Balong 5000 modem, the same integrated also in the new Huawei CPE 5G Pro external modem that will be distributed in the coming weeks through Italian telecom operators.
This is a chip made at 7 nm, so low power consumption and low heat emissions, with multi-mode functionality. With a single chip, therefore, it is possible to manage both the old 2G, 3G and 4G networks (including 4.5G) and the new 5G network (including the frequency spectrum below 6 GHz). In this way it will be possible to switch "on the fly" from 4G to 5G connectivity, according to the coverage on the territory, with very low latencies and without interruptions. This will be very useful especially in the first phase of 5G deployment, when the network will not yet cover the whole territory in a uniform manner.
Huawei Mate 20 X 5G: features and price
Apart from the Balong 5000 modem, the new Huawei Mate 20 X 5G smartphone is almost a twin of the regular Huawei Mate 20. So it's a great device, featuring a 7.2-inch OLED display with FHD+ 2244×1080 pixel resolution, for 381 Ppi density. It features the Huawei Kirin 980 chipset, 4 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage.
It has a 24 MP f/2.0 front camera and three rear cameras: 12 MP f/1.8, 16 MP f/2.2 wide angle and 8 MP f/2.4 tele. Finally, the battery is 4,000 mAh and charges up to 22.5 Watts with Huawei SuperCharge. The new Huawei SuperCool liquid cooling system takes advantage of a vapor chamber with graphene cover to dissipate heat faster and keep the smartphone cool. Huawei explains that thanks to this cooling system, you can play games on the Mate 20 C 5G more smoothly. The launch price of Huawei Mate 20 X 5G is 1,099 euros.
Huawei CPE 5G Pro
For those who are not willing to spend almost 1,100 euros on a smartphone just to have 5G connectivity, Huawei has thought of a second solution: the Huawei CPE 5G Pro modem. This modem does nothing more than transfer the 5G connection to a 4G smartphone via the Wi-Fi signal. To be precise Wi-Fi 6, in the 802.11ax standard, that is, the latest evolution of the wireless connection. Huawei's CPE 5G Pro modem, at least initially, will only be distributed through phone operators.
