In Paris, Huawei presented the P20 Pro and the Huawei Mate RS. Both have a triple rear camera, but they differ in design
The Huawei P20 Pro has been one of the most talked about smartphones in recent months and after many indiscretions and rumors, it was finally presented by the Chinese company in an event organized in Paris. The smartphone is the new flagship device of Huawei that will have to challenge the Galaxy S9 and the iPhone X.
It is no coincidence that throughout the presentation of the smartphone, the CEO of Huawei has over and over again compared the performance of the P20 Pro to those of the two main competitors. With the new smartphone, Huawei takes a decisive step forward from the recent past and becomes a benchmark for other companies. The Huawei P20 Pro is a real concentration of technology, starting from the photographic sector that has cost Huawei (and Leica, a company with which it has been working for three years) time and money for research&development. Nothing has been left to chance and the P20 Pro was born to be the first in its class. And in some areas it is right from the start.
In addition to the Huawei P20 Pro, the Huawei P20 (which we talk about in another article) and the Huawei Mate RS were also presented. While on the first one in recent months had come out dozens and dozens of rumors, the second was a real surprise hit of the Chinese company, good at keeping it hidden until the end. The Mate RS is a luxurious version of the Huawei P20 Pro, from which it takes most of the technical features. The smartphone joins the "Porsche Design" stable and is characterized by the use of fine materials and extreme styling choices. Just as extreme is the price: for the premium version you need to shell out over 2000 euros.
Features Huawei P20 Pro
A smartphone without compromise. For the Huawei P20 Pro, the Chinese company chose the best hardware components available on the market. Starting with the screen. The display is OLED, has a diagonal of 6.1 inches, a resolution of 2240×1080 pixels and presents at the top the notch, the notch where the front camera is integrated. Under the screen we find the Kirin 970 chipset that integrates a Neural Processing Unit for artificial intelligence, with to support 6GB of RAM and 128GB of internal memory. Artificial intelligence is the real engine of the smartphone: it improves performance, decreases power consumption and raises the level of the photographic compartment. Without artificial intelligence, the smartphone would lose half of its power.
As mentioned, it is on the photo compartment that Huawei has focused most of its efforts. For the first time on a smartphone there are as many as three vertical rear cameras. Huawei has decided to place them all vertically: the main sensor is in the center and is 40 megapixels and has a focal aperture of 1.8. Accompanying it are an 8 Megapixel telephoto lens (zoom x3) and a 20 Megapixel lens for black and white shots with a focal aperture of 1.6. The front camera is 24 Megapixels and is used for Face Unlock, Huawei's face recognition system that promises to be super fast and reliable. The triple camera system manages to be handled perfectly only thanks to the presence of artificial intelligence, which also gives the smartphone other unique features. For example, when you are about to take a picture, the artificial intelligence recognizes the framed objects and automatically sets the white balance to make the picture perfect. 4D Predictive Focus technology allows the P20 Pro to identify moving objects and automatically stabilize the image. As for photo stabilization, the smartphone also integrates Huawei AIS technology, which uses AI to eliminate "blurring" from images. Also with regard to the graphics compartment, there is to report the possibility of reaching ISO values up to 102400. All these features have allowed the Huawei P20 Pro to obtain on DXoMark, a benchmark site dedicated to cameras, a score of 109, the highest ever recorded by a smartphone.
The battery is 4000mAh and allows you to get through the day without too many problems. In addition to the photographic compartment, the audio one also features some very interesting components, such as the new Huawei DAC Headphone Amplifier. The smartphone mounts the Android Oreo 8.1 version with EMUI 8.1 customization. Non è presente il jack audio da 3,5mm, mentre c’è un carrellino dove alloggiare una doppia scheda SIM con il supporto al 4G. Lo smartphone ha ricevuto la certificazione IP67.

Huawei Mate RD Porsche Design
It mounts the Kirin 970 with 6GB of RAM and 256GB or 512GB of internal storage. The photo compartment is identical to that of the P20 Pro, with the triple rear camera. The glass body allows the device to support super-fast wireless charging. But the most interesting feature is the under-screen fingerprint reader, which for the first time is mounted on a Huawei device (there is also a physical reader at the back). The Huawei Mate RS Porsche Design is a luxury smartphone and the launch price proves it: for the 256GB version you need to shell out 1695 euros, while for the 512GB version the figure goes up to 2095 euros. Along with the smartphone you will also receive a leather case. Available from mid-April.
