Apple has finally sent the press invitations for the online event of presentation of the new iPhone 13: here are all the details and how to follow it without problems
The wait for Apple fans is about to end: the house of Cupertino has made official the launch date of iPhone 13 and announced the date of the now traditional online event that, from the beginning of the pandemic onwards, replaces the classic "keynote" held in presence at Apple Park since the days of Steve Jobs.
The event is called "California Streaming" and is scheduled for September 14, at 10:00 a.m. California time (7:00 p.m. Italian time) and, also this time, it will actually be a recorded movie with a lot of editing and special effects. Of the event, at least officially, we only know the date, time and where to see it because Apple has not announced which products and services it will present. It is not a novelty so much confidentiality, but a well-trodden marketing move to increase the anticipation. It is obvious, however, that during "California Streaming" will be launched iPhone 13 while less certain are the launches of Apple Watch 7, the new models of iPad and Mac / MacBook and, above all, the AirPods 3 headphones.
Apple California Streaming: where to watch it
As usual there are three official ways to follow Apple's online event live: the first is by connecting to Apple's website, the second is by using the Apple TV app (on all supported devices), the third is by connecting to Apple's official YouTube channel.
During the past events Apple made the technical choice to broadcast different video streams for each of these options. This led to uneven streaming performance and stability: while everything went smoothly on YouTube, Apple's website would sometimes crash due to excessive traffic, making new connections impossible.
For this reason, our advice is to watch the Apple California Streaming event directly on YouTube, either from browser or mobile app (why not, even from Smart TV), in order not to miss a single moment of the new products presentation.
What Apple will present
There is no doubt that during the California Streaming event Apple will present its new smartphone, the iPhone 13. It is almost certain that the iPhone 13 range will mirror the iPhone 12 range, with four models: iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13, iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. The well-informed do not expect revolutions: iPhone 13 will be an evolution of iPhone 12.
The launch of the Apple Watch 7, however, until a few days ago was also given for certain but in the last few hours it is much less: according to the latest rumors Apple has problems with suppliers of components, which could postpone the launch of a few weeks. Or, Apple Watch 7 could be presented on September 14 but put on sale only several weeks later.
As for the AirPods 3, however, according to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg they will be "The most important evolution since 2016", they will have a design similar to that of the AirPods Pro but it is not said they will have active noise cancellation.
The ninth-generation iPad and the sixth-generation iPad mini are expected, and both could be equipped with the new M1 chip (or a depowered version), or the same A15 Bionic that will debut on the iPhone 13. Their launch on September 14 is considered by many unlikely, because it would put too much meat on the grill of new Apple products. Therefore, a further event in October or November is not excluded.
Another event within which Apple could also present the new Macs and MacBooks with M1 chips, not to mention the new "Pro" computers. Apple has yet to complete its farewell process to Intel CPUs, but it is unlikely to do so on September 14.
