Oppo Watch 2 is official: excellent specifications and features at a price that in China is small, but still uncertain prices and availability for Europe.
Official Oppo Watch 2, smartwatch with which the Chinese company intends to give continuity to the first generation. The smartwatch is declined in three versions: one with a 46 mm case complete with everything, including eSIM, one, similar, with a 42 mm case and a third of the same size but without eSIM, then with the Bluetooth only.
The smartwatch has been made official for China, we do not yet have information about its marketing in international markets, which should not be in doubt judging by the fact that the first generation has also arrived in Europe, moreover, gaining a good appreciation from the public. Oppo Watch 2 compared to its predecessor maintains the characteristic lines, starting with the square case that is inspired, in an obvious way, to the industry leader Apple Watch. However, the Chinese smartwatch, unlike the most popular Cupertino watch, manages to combine a good technical prospectus at a price that in China is very interesting.
Oppo Watch 2, features and functionality
Oppo Watch 2 is driven by the Snapdragon Wear 4100, the chip of the world leader Qualcomm latest for wearables that represents a big step forward compared to the past generation, the Snapdragon Wear 3100, which equipped the predecessor.
Aiding Qualcomm's SiP is an Apollo 4s coprocessor developed by Ambiq: in recent days it was rumored that it would be central to relieve the powerful Wear 4100 from the most "light" operations in order to keep consumption under control and prolong autonomy.
About autonomy, Oppo Watch 2 is equipped with Ultra Dynamic Dual Engine (UDDE) technology that according to the company significantly extends autonomy. Between UDDE and co-processor, the claimed result seems excellent: 4 days without going from the charger with normal use, even 16 days in power saving, a mode not too limiting since it allows the measurement of oxygen in the blood, heart rate and the management of notifications.
Despite the autonomy claimed satisfactory, there is the VOOC 2.0 fast charging to which it takes 10 minutes to the socket to store energy for a day of use. Oppo Watch 2 integrates a variety of sensors including three-axis accelerometer, gyroscope, compass, air pressure, optical heart rate sensor, etc.
It supports more than 100 types of physical activities such as swimming, badminton and tennis, and has an automatic tracking function for 6 common sports such as running, walking, cycling, swimming, elliptical machine and rowing machine.
Oppo Watch 2 has a 1.91-inch AMOLED display (1.75 for the 42mm version) with a pixel density of 326 ppi and 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space.
Oppo Watch 2, pricing and availability
Oppo Watch 2 is available, as mentioned in the opening, in two size variants, both with aluminum alloy case: the 46mm one is available in Platinum Black and Star Blue, the 42mm version is available in Platinum Black and Orange Gold while the 42mm Bluetooth-only version is only available in Platinum Black.
Prices in China start from the equivalent of 169 euros for the 42mm Bluetooth-only variant to 260 for the 46mm one with eSIM. Still to be understood availability and pricing for Europe, but if it comes the price will certainly be higher due to shipping costs and higher taxation.
