Realme's new TV stick offers everything users could ask for in 2021, at a very affordable price: it only remains to see if, and when, it will also arrive in Italy
During the launch event of the new Realme GT Neo 2 smartphone in India, the Chinese manufacturer of the BBK Electronics group (which brings together the brands Oppo, Vivo, OnePlus, Realme and iQOO), also presented the Realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick. This is the first TV stick ever, after the Google Chromecast with Google TV, to use Google's new interface on an Android TV base.
As big as any other TV stick with HDMI connection, one among all the Amazon Fire TV Stick, this device adopts decent hardware to offer those who buy it all the latest features when it comes to streaming TV. What's more, unlike the others, it also offers the Google TV user interface, which is basically a software layer that is added to Android TV to group, sort and search all the online content available to the user, based on their subscriptions and tastes. Finally, according to Realme, it is also very durable: it has passed tests such as 144 hours of operation at high temperatures, falls from a meter high, a thousand insertions in the USB port and 50 thousand calls from the remote control buttons. Speaking of remote control: Realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick is compatible with Realme's Bluetooth voice remote control, which, however, is not included in the package.
Realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick: technical specifications
Realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick integrates a quad-core chip, with dual-core GPU, flanked by 2 GB of RAM and 8 GB of storage space. It connects to the TV via HDMI 2.1 and to the home router with WiFi, while to connect it to a smartphone (or remote control) there is Bluetooth 5.0.
With this technical base, it can play content up to 4K resolution, at 60 frames per second and with support for HDR10+. If connected to the optional remote control with microphone, it can process voice commands from Google Assistant (there is the "built-in" Chromecast).
Realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick: price and availability
The Realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick has currently been presented for the Indian market only, where it costs 3,999 rupees (about 45 euros at current exchange rates). It is not known if and when it will also arrive in other markets, but it is highly likely that Realme is planning to launch it in Europe and the United States as well.
In our continent, in particular, Realme has a good fan base that would be well willing to buy the Realme 4K Smart Google TV Stick.
