Redmi launches the Refmi K30 Pro 5G. On board the Snapdragon 865 with 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage. Here's the price and when it arrives in Italy
Redmi has officially launched two new top-of-the-line smartphones in China: the Redmi K30 Pro 5G and the K30 Pro 5G Zoom. These are the successors to the Redi K30 launched at the end of last year, from which they take the design. The Redmi K series in recent years has been appreciated for its excellent value for money and the philosophy is not betrayed by these last two models. The Redmi K30 Pro 5G is based on the same philosophy as its predecessor, showing off respectable specifications, but at the same time it reduces the premium features such as the absence of wireless charging, a choice due to price containment. On board, however, we find the Snapdragon 865, processor present on most of the devices released in this early 2020, supported by 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal memory. As for the prices, for the moment are official only those in China, we do not know the timing for the release in Italy.
Redmi K30 Pro 5G: technical specifications
Under the shell of the Redmi K30 Pro 5G beats a Snapdragon 865 processor clocked at 2.84 GHz and coupled with a UFS 3.1 memory up to 256 GB and 8 GB of RAM LPDDR5, also available a standard variant with 6 GB of RAM LPDDR4X. The phone features a 6.67-inch Super AMOLED display with FullHD+ resolution. Redmi has also used special light-sensing technology to significantly improve automatic brightness adjustment. The display is TUV Rheinland certified and also includes a state-of-the-art fingerprint sensor.
Thanks to the Snapdragon 865 chipset, the smartphone also supports 5G network. The phone also integrates Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1 and NFC, and the classic 3.5mm headphone jack and IR port complete the specifications. One special feature: The phone mounts a VC cooling system with 9 temperature sensors to prevent overheating during high-intensity activities, such as gaming. The Redmi K30 Pro 5G is powered by a 4,700 mAh battery equipped with 33 W fast charging, in just 63 minutes the phone is able to charge to 100%.
Redmi K30 Pro 5G: the photo compartment
The new low-cost phone from Xiaomi comes with a configuration with four rear cameras. The main sensor is a 64-megapixel Sony IMX686 with optical stabilization, followed by a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, an 8-megapixel telephoto/macro lens, and a final 2-megapixel dedicated depth-of-field sensor. The phone also supports 8K video shooting and super slo-mo video.
The Zoom version of the Redmi K30 Pro features the same configuration, but its 8-megapixel telephoto lens is able to sport a 3x optical zoom and 30x digital zoom. The Zoom edition also features 4-axis stabilization absent on the regular Pro model. Finally 20-megapixel pop-up front camera with support for 120 fps slo-mo video and time-lapse shooting.
Redmi K30 Pro 5G: the design
The design of the new low-cost phone from the Chinese manufacturer always derives from the lines of the previous model. Confirmed the pop-up camera similar to the one used on the K20 Pro model, which is activated only when you open the camera app and for unlocking via face recognition. The section that houses the four cameras on the rear shell is slightly curved and resembles the one already seen on the OnePlus 7T phone, a radical change from the vertical and central arrangement used on previous Redmi models. Finally, four colors are available: Blue, purple, gray and white. Also available are a series of custom cases for the new Redmi and made in collaboration with the Keith Haring foundation.
Redmi K30: release date and price
The Redmi K30 Pro 5G opens pre-sales just today, and will be available starting March 27 only in China. For now, there are no known plans regarding the marketing of the new Redmi K30 range of phones in the rest of the world. These are the launch prices at the current exchange rate:
- 390 euros for the K30 Pro 6GB + 128GB version,
- 440 euros for the K30 Pro 8GB + 128GB version,
- 480 euros for the K30 Pro 8GB + 256GB version.
The Pro Zoom variant, on the other hand, will be priced at around 500 euros and 520 euros depending on the 128 or 256GB internal memory capacity.
Probably in Italy they will be marketed under a different name: the K20 Pro was launched under the name Mi 9T Pro. Probably the same market strategy will be used.
