Technology has profoundly changed the way we travel and move around by car: more and more safety and infotainment systems are now present in new cars, with the electronic part often undergoing major evolutions in the transition from one generation of a model to the next. The latest example of this trend is Nissan's new SUV-Crossover: Qashqai 2021.

The model has changed in everything, both mechanically and electronically, while maintaining continuity with its previous history. Mechanically, the car is built on the new CMF-C platform, which is much stronger and safer than the previous generation. The CMF-C is also lighter but, thanks to the use of ultra-high strength steel, is 41% stiffer. Comfort isn't affected, however, thanks to new shock absorbers and steering. The result is a beautiful and technological crossover, spacious, comfortable and with premium features despite the affordable price.

New Nissan Qashqai: how it is made

Nissan Qashqai is now in its third generation and, like the previous two, was designed in the Nissan Design Europe Center in London. The styling remains typically European and is characterized by sharper and sharper body lines, which make the car even more muscular.

The waistline, i.e. the point of the doors from which the glass surfaces start, is more pronounced to accentuate even more the sense of strength and robustness conveyed by this crossover. For the first time, 20-inch alloy wheels are available on the Qashqai.

New Nissan Qashqai: the technology

While the outside is notable for its shape, inside the Nissan Qashqai is appreciated for its technology. To enrich even more a cabin already made comfortable by premium materials, there is in fact a lot of electronics.

The new 9-inch display gives the driver access to navigation, entertainment system and main settings.

The second 12.3-inch multi-function TFT display, controlled directly from the steering wheel buttons, can be configured for both navigation and entertainment and can show traffic updates or car information.

A third 10.8-inch display, a HUD (Head Up Display) type, projects navigation, traffic or driver assistance system information onto the windshield.

The NissanConnect system is compatible with both Android Auto and Apple CarPlay (also wirelessly), Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant and, via the smartphone app, you can remotely manage various controls including the horn, lights, and opening and closing doors.

New Nissan Qashqai: engines and range

Lots of technology also in the motorizations of the new Nissan Crossover, which offers a 12V mild hybrid system ("Mild Hybrid") that combines a main turbo gasoline engine with a second electric motor that allows to lower CO2 emissions and consumption while maintaining high power: it starts from 140 HP (and reaches 158 HP) despite the heat engine is only 1,300 cubic centimeters. Values unthinkable until a few years ago.

In the future there will be a hybrid version e-POWER, with an electric motor that moves the wheels powered by a lithium-ion battery recharged by a gasoline engine not connected to the wheels.

All this technology is 'already on sale with the Premiere Edition exclusive limited edition version with a rich technological equipment and ADAS, pre-order directly on the Nissan website.
