Two years after the conclusion of the first season, new episodes of the fantasy TV series are finally coming. Here's what time they come out and where to see them
Exactly two years after the success of the first season, which was released on Netflix in December 2019, is available from today on the streaming platform The Witcher 2, the second season of the Polish-American TV series based on the Geralt of Rivia Saga by author Andrzej Sapkowski.
The release date, namely December 17, had been announced during Witcher Con, an event completely dedicated to the TV series. To lengthen the production time of the second season was the pandemic, which in the early months of 2020 had forced to temporarily stop filming. But finally the wait is over: now fans can find out how the adventures of the dark monster hunter Geralt of Rivia continue. Those who want to get really prepared to watch the new episodes, however, in addition to review the first season, should also recover the prequel, the animated film The Witcher: Nightmare of the Wolf. The prequel miniseries The Witcher: Blood Origin is currently in the works.
What's The Witcher 2 About: The Plot
The TV series is set in a fantasy universe inhabited by humans, elves, dwarves and other magical species. There are also various monsters that threaten the security and balance between the peoples, already precarious due to the expansionist plans of the empire of Nilfgaard. To keep these monstrous creatures under control, the witchers, mutant warriors, have been created.
Among them is the main character, Geralt of Rivia, a witcher with special powers who kills monsters for money. Among the main characters there are also Cirilla, princess of Cintra, and the sorceress Yennefer. The fates of the three characters are destined to intersect. In the last episode of the first season, in fact, the witcher and the princess meet almost by chance, while the battle against Nilfgaard is in progress and Yennefer uses all her power to stop the enemy advance.
In the second season Geralt of Rivia is convinced that Yennefer is dead and takes Cirilla to his childhood home. As the kings of the Continent, elves, humans and demons continue their battle, Geralt realizes that he must protect the princess from the mysterious power she holds within herself.
The Witcher 2: cast and characters
In season two, the main characters return: Henry Cavill as Geralt, Freya Allan as Cirilla and Anya Chalotra as Yennefer. Much of the cast is also confirmed in the new episodes, with two new entries: Carmel Laniado, who will play Violet, and Kristofer Hivju, who will be Nigel.
What time does The Witcher 2 come out
All eight episodes of The Witcher's second season, which last 50-60 minutes each, are available on Netflix from 9 am on December 17.
The episodes can then be watched at any time by subscribers to the streaming platform.
