A new scam message has gone viral on WhatsApp. Here's what the message contains and why it's dangerous for users
Not a week goes by without a scam message going viral on WhatsApp. This time to launch the alarm is the site butac.it, information portal that performs fact-checking on the news published on the Net. These days it is returning to fashion the message that advises users not to answer some phone numbers with foreign prefix.
This is a scam that circulates on WhatsApp for several years now and already a few months ago we warned against this type of messages. Purtroppo questi messaggi hanno sempre un grande successo su WhatsApp e nonostante gli sforzi degli sviluppatori per mettere un freno alla condivisione, riescono a diventare virali nel giro di qualche ora. Il messaggio, logicamente, riporta notizie false: non c’è nessun rischio a rispondere alle chiamate che vengono dall’estero (in questo caso dai Paesi dell’Est). Il pericolo è richiamare questi numeri: potrebbero attivare dei servizi ad abbonamento e scalare i soldi dal credito residuo.
