The new EMUI 9.1 interface is coming to several Huawei and Honor smartphones: here's the complete list
Almost a month after Huawei's official announcement regarding the start of the distribution of the new EMUI 9.1, the rollout of the new GUI for Android 9 Pie continues expeditiously. Not only on Huawei smartphones: some Honor models, in fact, have already received the update or are about to receive it soon.
At the moment, Huawei is proceeding to update smartphones in the Chinese market, but the global distribution of EMUI version 9.1 could start at any time. As always, the best way to get the latest available version of EMUI for your Huawei/Honor smartphone is to install the official HiCare app, which proceeds (among many other things) to automatically keep your device updated with the latest available software. Those who have already received EMUI 9.1, finally, confirm all the news announced both in terms of performance and new features available for the smartphone.
EMUI 9.1: what's new
The main new features of EMUI 9.1 are two: the new Android compiler used (Ark Compiler, which replaces Art), which brings performance increases between 20 and 60%, and the new EROFS file system that promises up to 20% faster read speeds and better management of the smartphone's internal memory. Huawei claims +2 GB of free space compared to the old F2FS file system. Then there's the upgrade to GPU Turbo 3.0, now compatible with 25 games, which also allows you to consume less battery power while running video games.
Do-it-yourselfers will instead appreciate AR Measure, the app that allows you to calculate (thanks to the same technology used for three-dimensional facial recognition) the size of an object framed with the camera.
