Windows 10 May 2020 Update is being released also for older PCs: here's how to download it
Windows 10 May 2020 Update, Microsoft's first core update for 2020, has had several problems in these first months of release: bugs that have forced the Redmond company to release some patches to fix them and more generally inefficiencies that have made users' lives difficult. In addition to all this, many users were not able to install the update: Microsoft, in fact, blocked the diffusion on all those devices that were not yet ready.
What does this mean? That many computers, because of drivers or simply because they are a bit old, still don't receive the May 2020 Update, with all the consequences of not being able to use the new features designed by Microsoft. Now, however, things might change: the Redmond-based company, in fact, has announced that the update is ready to be released even on computers that were initially discarded. Already in the coming days, the update will be available on Windows Update and users will be able to download and install it on their PCs.

With a note published on Windows 10 online support, Microsoft announced the extension of support for Windows 10 May 2020 Update. What does it mean? Molto semplice: nelle prossime settimane l’aggiornamento verrà rilasciato per la maggior parte dei computer che hanno installato Windows 10, anche quelli più vecchi e che a breve verranno dismessi e non sarà più possibile aggiornarli.
Il rilascio del primo core update di Windows 10 del 2020 è avvenuto in diversi fasi: la scelta è stata fatta direttamente da Microsoft per evitare problemi di compatibilità tra il sistema operativo e i vari driver presenti sui PC. Problemi che, però, alla fine ci sono stati ugualmente. Per determinare quale PC “meritasse" l’aggiornamento, Microsoft ha utilizzare un sistema di machine learning in grado di capire quando rilasciare l’update in base alle caratteristiche dei singoli computer.
Nel messaggio rilasciato online, Microsoft annuncia l’arrivo dell’update su nuovi pc: “Windows 10, versione 2004, è disponibile per gli utenti con computer che utilizzano Windows 10, versioni 1903 e 1909, ed è possibile trovarlo su “Aggiornamenti disponibili" tramite Windows Update. Adesso stiamo iniziando una nuova fase del roll-out. Usando il nostro sistema di machine learning, stiamo aumentando il numero di dispositivi selezionati per l’aggiornamento automatico a Windows 10, versione 2004". Con questa nuova fase di rilascio, la maggior parte dei computer con Windows 10 dovrebbe ricevere l’aggiornamento.
