More details arrive on the next three devices with which Xiaomi will return - and hopes to do so in a big way - in the Android tablet market
After years of absence, Xiaomi is finally ready to return to the Android tablet market with the goal of being the main alternative to the iPad (perhaps even offering the stylus). Ambitious goal yes, but not impossible for a company like Xiaomi, which over the years has proven to have the skills to duel with any other company.
So the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 will be presented, to listen to rumors, soon, by the end of August. "The" Xiaomi Mi Pad 5, plural, because the company should return to the Android tablet market with three models to cover different segments: Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Lite, which as the name suggests will be the cheapest of the three, Mi Pad 5 and finally Mi Pad 5 Pro, which will be the reference choice for those who want the most. It also seems that from the three tablets of Xiaomi may derive a fourth version, with a lower price, which would be marketed by Redmi.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro, the characteristics
According to the latest information, Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro will have the Snapdragon 870 chip, evolution of last year's top of the range of Qualcomm that can potentially reach a maximum frequency of 3.2 GHz. As a result, Xiaomi's two best tablets should certainly not lack in performance, if they were to be equipped by the Snapdragon 870 as rumored.
The rumors report that one of the two variants - probably Mi Pad 5 Pro - will have a 48-megapixel camera and support for 5G connectivity, while the other will make do with a 12-megapixel sensor and Wi-Fi connectivity alone to ensure web access. Both instead will rely on a fairly large LCD display, 10.9 inches it is said, with 2K resolution and a refresh rate of 120 Hz, so as to ensure maximum fluidity while watching compatible movies or, even better, with games.
Two other features according to rumors will be shared by Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 and Mi Pad 5 Pro: the 8,750 mAh battery, and support for wired fast charging at 67 watts. The differences between the "standard" variant and the Pro would thus be limited to camera resolution and 5G connectivity, elements that many would presumably be willing to give up in exchange for a substantial savings in the purchase phase.
Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Lite, the characteristics
Of the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Lite it is said instead that it will have the Snapdragon 860 chip from Qualcomm, which represents an evolution of the top of the range 2019 Snapdragon 855+: a project with a few years on the shoulders in short, but certainly able to guarantee good performance to those who use the tablet without the need to perform demanding operations for the hardware, such as writing or streaming multimedia content.
It is also rumored that the Xiaomi Mi Pad 5 Lite will borrow from its bigger brothers some important features such as the display, 10.9-inch LCD panel, 2K resolution and 120 Hz refresh rate. There would then be 33-watt fast charging and a 12-megapixel camera.
