The Redmi 5 mounts a Snapdragon 625 chipset supported by 2/3/4GB of RAM and 16/32/64GB of internal memory. 5.7-inch 18:9 screen
Xiaomi has now become one of the most important companies in the world of smartphones. And since a few weeks it has begun to sell its smartphones in Italy as well (you can find them on some e-commerce sites and even in some shopping malls), making it easier to buy the devices.
While all other companies are at "rest" before launching new smartphones in 2018, Xiaomi presented on December 7 two new devices. These are the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, two smartphones with very interesting features and price. Redmi is the series of low cost smartphones from Xiaomi and in recent years has been very successful, even among the Italian public. And for the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus, the Chinese company has changed the design of the smartphone by adopting a screen with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and moving the fingerprint reader to the back.
Features Redmi 5
Let's start with the Redmi 5, smartphone with entry-level features and price. The device will be launched in two different versions, one with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage and the other with 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage. Supporting everything will be the Snapdragon 450 chipset and the Adreno 506 graphics accelerator. As mentioned, the peculiarity of these new devices is the screen. The display of the Redmi 5 is 5.7 inches with a resolution of 1440 x 720 pixels and aspect ratio of 18:9. The front camera is 5 megapixels, while the rear camera is 12 megapixels. The 3300mAh battery is expected to provide a pretty good battery life.
Redmi 5 Plus Features
The Redmi 5 Plus not only differs in having a bigger screen with a better resolution, but also in its technical features. For its mid-range Xiaomi chose the Snapdragon 625 chipset supported by 3/4GB of RAM and 32/64GB of internal storage (depending on the model chosen). The display is 5.99 inches with a resolution of 2160×1080 pixels. The camera compartment is the same as the Redmi 5. 4000mAh battery.
Price and release Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus
The two devices will be available in China from December 12 in four colors: Gold, Rose Gold, Blue and Black. As anticipated, the price of the Redmi 5 and Redmi 5 Plus is very competitive. The Redmi 5 with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage will hit the market at a price of about 105 euros, while for the 3/32GB version you'll have to spend about ten euros more. For the Redmi 5 Plus, the price will be around 130 euros for the 3/32GB version and 160 euros for the model with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. For the moment there is no news if the smartphone will be marketed in Italy, but with the arrival of Xiaomi on some e-commerce sites anything is possible.
