Xiaomi has started the release of MIUI 12 for its smartphones and there are important new features, from partial screenshots to e-reader mode
The MIUI 12 update distribution has started for Xiaomi smartphones and the Chinese company is already working on new features in the Beta version. Among them we find the ability to take partial screenshots, as well as the "Paper" reading mode to turn the phone into an e-reader.
Among other new features, the developers are working on the inclusion of a "Back Tap" gesture, to also take advantage of the back of the smartphone and AI Shutter. The new version of MIUI 12 then surprised users with the MIUI Gallery v2.2.16.17, with the OCR function for text recognition, as well as the improvement of Sky filters, introduced already with the MIUI 10 version and then improved in MIUI 11. At the moment, the latest features are available for the Xiaomi Mi 10 and Mi 9 models, as well as the Redmi K30 and K20.
MIUI 12, all the new features for Xiaomi smartphones
Xiaomi has been working hard to make MIUI 12 competitive, including new and useful features for its smartphones. Among these is the ability to use the "Back Tap", that is, the tap on the back of the phone, to activate certain options or functions. A feature that challenges that introduced by Apple with its iOS 14 operating system, although the Chinese company has not yet reached the same levels. In fact, this feature is only available for Xiaomi in the MIUI 12 Beta version and is still being refined.
The other features that make Xiaomi smartphones perform better mainly concern MIUI Gallery v2.2.16.17. The latest version firstly features bug fixes on features introduced since MIUI 10, as well as new features that are very useful for users.
