New smartphone coming for Xiaomi. It's the Mi 9T, European version of the Redmin K20 presented a few days ago in China. Here's how it is and how much it costs
New smartphone coming for the Chinese Xiaomi, which has just announced on Twitter the arrival of the new Xiaomi Mi 9T. This is a device with excellent technical characteristics, in many areas at the same level of the top of the range, but that will have a much lower cost. The presentation of the device is scheduled for June 12.
In reality, however, this is not a new smartphone at all: the Xiaomi Mi 9T will in fact be the international version of the excellent Redmi K20 sold in China. Like the latter, then, the Mi 9T will also have a completely smooth, hole-free, notch-free screen and a pop-up front camera. The technical features of the Xiaomi Mi 9T/Redmi K20 are really good compared to the launch price that, for the Mi 9T, in Europe should be around 350-400 euros.
Xiaomi Mi 9T: technical features
The Xiaomi Mi 9T will feature a 6.39-inch AMOLED screen with FHD+ resolution (2,340×1080) that, as we have already said, will not have any hole or notch but will have an integrated fingerprint sensor. It will be a very bright screen (600 nits) with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The front pop up camera will be 20 MP f/2.2, while the three rear ones will be, respectively, 48 MP (Sony IMX586 and f/1.75 aperture), 8 MP (with 2x zoom and f/2.4 aperture) and 13 MP (wide angle with f/2.4 aperture).
The processor of the Xiaomi Mi 9T is the Snapdragon 730 with 8 cores from Qualcomm, a chip with more than adequate performance for everyday use and definitely high compared to the price range. The RAM memory will be 6 GB, while the internal storage 64 or 128 GB (not expandable). The new Xiaomi Mi 9T will be a dual SIM phone and will be powered by a capacious 4,000 mAh battery. The dimensions of the Xiaomi Mi 9T are 156.7×74.3×8.8 millimeters, while the weight stops a hair under two ounces: 191 grams. At launch the operating system will be Android 9 Pie, with MIUI 10.
Xiaomi and Redmi: what will arrive in Europe and what not
With two virtually identical devices, sold in China under two different brands, the Xiaomi group could find itself in the situation of having to choose what to sell even on the international market where (unlike China, where there is room for all) a device could cannibalize the other. The same goes for the Redmi K20 Pro and the Xiaomi Mi 9: the latter is already on sale in Europe, the former is not known if and when it will arrive. In the meantime, however, the electronics giant is enjoying the excellent sales figures of the K20 Pro, which has sold, in less than two hours after the official launch, as many as 200 thousand pieces in China.
