Se fino ad adesso i test effettuati erano stati molto brevi, Hyperloop One, una delle aziende create appositamente per sviluppare i treni ultraveloci, è pronta a effettuare dei test più approfonditi. Il luogo scelto è il Nevada che offre spazi immensi dove testare alla perfezione i tubi del treno a levitazione magnetica. Se i test andranno a buon fine, Hyperloop One proseguirà nella costruzione della prima linea ferroviaria. Secondo le previsioni dell’azienda, il treno Hyperloop dovrebbe effettuare il suo primo viaggio entro la fine del 2020. Inoltre, secondo i calcoli dello stesso Elon Musk, Hyperloop dovrebbe abbattere i costi delle infrastrutture ferroviarie. Infatti costruire un collegamento ferroviario tra San Francisco e Los Angeles verrebbe a costare quasi sessanta miliardi di dollari, con Hyperloop la spesa si aggira intorno ai cinque miliardi.
