Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs is the latest chapter in the video game saga. It will be released on April 11 for iPhone devices and will be based on augmented reality
Good news for Angry Birds lovers, but only for those who have an iOS device: the famous video game is coming back (scheduled date April 11, but you can already pre-order) on iPhone and iPad and will be in augmented reality. The new chapter of this game in the puzzle series created by Rovio Mobile, will be called Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs.
If this video game will initially be only for iOS is because the augmented reality functions are currently based on Apple's ARKit system. Thanks to the Bitten Apple's augmented reality API, then, we'll be able to slingshot the famous angry birds at obstacles that appear in our living room at home, in the office and maybe even in the middle of the street. It is not yet known if an Android version of this game will be released later, i.e. compatible with Google's ARCore API.
How to play Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs
The official trailer for this game shows a girl shooting birds on a coffee table. Other images show how you will be able to walk around the furniture in your home to find the ideal angle to hit a target. The possible game scenarios, in this way, are multiplied almost infinitely and the only real limitation will be the platform: to play Angry Birds VR: Isle of Pigs you'll need an ARKit compatible device. That is, an iPhone from version 6S onwards, a fifth-generation iPad or an iPad Pro. With these devices the game fluidity is excellent and the graphics, while remaining quite simple and cartoony, are absolutely pleasant.
For the rest, augmented reality aside, the game mode is always the same: launch different types of birds against increasingly complicated fortifications populated by evil pigs. As the player progresses in the game, the forts become more elaborate and it takes more and more precision and more refined tactics to shoot down the targets.
The Angry Birds saga
The Angry Birds saga is one of the longest, richest and most successful in the world of video games: it was born in December 2009 with the first title, of the same name, and then developed with 15 other titles until the last one in 2017: Angry Birds Stretch! In the meantime, they also come out with 4 spin-offs, two board games, an animated series, a movie (the sequel should arrive in September 2019) and even a playground in Finland.
