How Live Quiz works, the app that wins real prizes

Live Quiz is a game that puts prizes up for grabs. The goal is to answer ten questions correctly. Here's how Live Quiz works

For the past few weeks, there's been an app that's been testing the knowledge of Italians. It's called Live Quiz and it's the app of the moment, with more than 500,000 downloads from the Google Play Store and one million active users. What is it about? It's a game/quiz that every day offers a jackpot of 200 euros. What do you have to do to win? Answer exactly 10 questions of general culture. For each question you have ten seconds, so it's very difficult to cheat and look for the answer on the Internet.

Live Quiz is an all-Italian application, developed by the Milan-based company Bending Spoons, which has several interesting projects in the world of apps. Actually, Live Quiz is not an original idea: in the US there is already a very similar app (HQ Trivia) based on the same system. Live Quiz, however, unlike HQ Trivia is aimed only at an Italian audience with questions in Italian. The app is free and can be downloaded directly from the Google Play Store and the App Store.

How Live Quiz works

To start playing the game you need to download the app from Google or Apple's online store and install it on your device. Then you can launch Live Quiz and sign up for the game show. After completing the initial steps, you can access your personal profile. On the home page you'll find a countdown that tells you when the next challenge will start and a summary with all the prizes you've won.

Live Quiz is a game similar to "Who wants to be a millionaire?". There is a jackpot (usually 200 euros, but in some special cases it goes up to 500 euros and 1000 euros) and to win it you have to correctly answer ten questions: the more you go on, the more difficult they become. For each question you have a maximum of ten seconds, so that no one can search online for the correct answer. The prize money is divided equally by all users who have answered the ten questions correctly. The prize won is usually a few cents. There is also a set time to take the quiz: 9pm. On some days there are two sessions: at 13:30 and 21:00.

The success of Live Quiz has been overwhelming and it is estimated that hundreds of thousands of users challenge each session. The questions chosen for each game session are "anticipated" on social networks. The official profiles of Live Quiz publish posts with the macro-areas chosen in order to increase the hype of the users.

Live Quiz, the weekly jackpot

If you get a question wrong, the game continues. You can answer subsequent questions to accumulate useful points for the weekly ranking. Points are awarded according to the percentage of users who answer the question correctly. The weekly ranking offers a jackpot of 500 euros that is divided among the 100 strongest players: the first one wins 100 euros, the second 50 euros, the third 25 euros.

Live Quiz, how to get the prizes

Live Quiz cannot pay the prizes won with real money. Italian legislation does not allow it. For this reason, the prizes become Amazon vouchers that are sent directly to the email address reported by the user. In case the prizes are not collected, the money is given to the association Il Sorriso di Giorgio Onlus.
