If you want to delete on Android a WhatsApp contact that you have blocked or with whom you have quarreled, the first thing to do is to enter inside the app and open the conversation that concerns him. At this point press on his name and his personal file will open. Click on the icon with three vertical dots in the upper right corner and press "View in address book".
Then the contact's file will open in the address book and pressing again on the icon with three vertical dots in the upper right corner will bring up a menu from which you can select "Delete contact".

Also on iOS you can delete a contact from WhatsApp. To do this you need to launch the application, open the chat and press on the contact's name. How to update WhatsApp contact list on Android
If after deleting your friend's number, the contact is still present on WhatsApp, you need to update the phonebook present on the application. Usually this step is done automatically, but it may happen that WhatsApp does not do it.
Updating WhatsApp contact list on Android is very simple: open the application, press on the green icon in the lower right corner and then the icon with three vertical dots. In the menu that will open click on Update and the number that you have previously deleted, will disappear from the WhatsApp contact list.

On iOS you cannot update the WhatsApp contact list, but you can check in the smartphone settings if you have granted permissions to the messaging application to access the iPhone address book.
To do this you need to go into Settings and press on the WhatsApp icon. On the page that will open you need to check that the toggle next to the "Contacts" item is active. It's not over yet. You have to go back to Settings, press on Privacy and then on Contacts. A new page will open and you must check that the toggle next to "WhatsApp" is active. As a last thing you need to check that there are no active restrictions on WhatsApp.
If after all these checks, the WhatsApp contact list on iOS still hasn't been updated, then you'll have to delete the application and install it again.
