Oppo A53, the low-cost smartphone is now 5G

Oppo relaunches its budget smartphone with an interesting 5G version, revised not only in the modem but also in the SoC

The Chinese Oppo is ready to launch a new low-cost smartphone that supports the new 5G connectivity standard. The new version of the Oppo A53 5G will be compatible with the latest generation mobile networks and appears to be a new smartphone, not a simple reinterpretation of the 4G variant.

The first details on the characteristics of the Oppo A53 5G arrive from the Chinese certification body Teena and the phone operator China Mobile and reveal that it will be equipped with a MediaTek Dimensity 720 processor, while for the 4G version Oppo had chosen a Snapdragon 460 processor. The reason is simple: the Snapdragon 460 is an SoC that does not integrate a 5G modem, while the MediaTek Dimensity 720 does. The Dimensity 720, moreover, is more powerful and consumes less. Confirmed instead the triple configuration of the rear camera, with a 16-megapixel main sensor and front camera of the type in-display. The low-cost smartphone will first arrive on the Chinese market at a very low price: the equivalent of about 200 euros at current exchange rates.

Oppo A53 5G, the characteristics

The new version of Oppo A53 5G will rely on a different chipset from the 4G version, necessary to support the latest generation connectivity. The Chinese company abandons the Snapdragon processor to opt for a MediaTek Dimensity 720 octa-core at 7 nm and 2 GHz, while the GPU is Mali G57 MC3. Two versions of RAM with 4 or 6 GB cuts, while the internal storage space will be 128 GB but expandable with microSD card.

The 6.5-inch LCD display has Full HD+ resolution and an 8-megapixel in-display camera with Face Unlock included. The camera compartment on the back of the smartphone, on the other hand, includes three sensors: a 16-megapixel main one and two others of 2 megapixels each, and there is no shortage of an LED flash. The operating system is Android 10 with ColorOS 7.2 user interface and the fingerprint sensor is placed on the side. The battery is 4000 mAh with support for 10 W fast charging.

Oppo A53 5G: when it arrives and how much it costs

The new 5G smartphone from Oppo will arrive from December 1 in China in five color variants: Black, White, Purple, Silver, Red. The price will start from 1599 yuan, just over 200 euros at current exchange rates. A price that if it will be confirmed on the European market will prove really advantageous for a smartphone that supports the new connectivity standard.
