The Pixel 2 XL will also arrive in Italy from November 15 in the version with 64GB of internal memory at a price of 989 euros. But that's not the only news
If the arrival of the first Pixel in Italy has been lost track of, for the Pixel 2 XL Italian users will not have to worry: the smartphone will be released in the Bel Paese on November 15 at a price of 989 euros. To confirm the news was directly Google during the event organized for the presentation of eight new devices.
Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL have top of the range features: from the technical sector (Snapdragon 835 with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory) to the photographic one (evaluated with a score of 98 - the highest ever recorded so far - by DxOMark, site specializing in comparing smartphone cameras) it is difficult to find a single element out of place. Even if in terms of design, the Pixel 2 is a bit old-fashioned, having remained faithful to the philosophy that accompanied the world of smartphones until early last year: 16:9 screen with very evident bezels. The Pixel 2 XL, on the other hand, features an 18:9 display with very thin bezels: the style is very reminiscent of the LG G6 (and in fact it was made by the South Korean company).
Features Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL
Although the name may mislead, the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are two profoundly different smartphones. In addition to the screen size, the two phones have profoundly different designs. The Pixel 2 XL adopts a bezel-less design, that is, without side bezels (as already seen with other top of the range devices released in previous months), while the Pixel 2 follows a more conservative philosophy. But let's go in order.
The Pixel 2 mounts a technical sector of all respect and that it also shares with the Pixel 2 XL. Under the shell we find a Snapdragon 835 chipset supported by an Adreno 540 graphics accelerator, 4GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB of internal storage. The Pixel 2's screen is 5 inches with a 16:9 aspect ratio and a design that shows very noticeable bezels. The Pixel 2 XL, on the other hand, has a 5.99-inch screen with QuadHd resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels and an aspect ratio of 18:9. The design looks a lot like that of the LG G6 with rounded corners and thin bezels. On both smartphones the screens will be P-OLED.
Photography compartment Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL
Great attention has been paid to the photo compartment of the two devices. At the rear we find a new 12-megapixel optic that achieved a score of 98 on DxOMark, a site specializing in smartphone camera benchmarks, the highest ever obtained by a phone so far (the previous record was the iPhone 8 Plus and Samsung Note 8 with 94). The rear lens has a focal aperture of 1.8, integrates HDR+ mode and optical stabilizer. In addition, in the coming months there will also be support for the new virtual reality platform ARCore presented a few weeks ago by Google. The front camera, however, is 8 megapixels and has a focal aperture of 2.4. The real secret of the photographic compartment is hidden within the software: thanks to the support of Google Assistant and the artificial intelligence systems developed by Big G, the lens manages to get the most out of every shot.
Coming with Android Oreo 8.0
The two smartphones are water and dust resistant thanks to IP67 certification, while on the back there is a fingerprint sensor. As for the autonomy, the Pixel 2 mounts a 2700mAH battery, while the Pixel 2 XL a 3520 mAh battery.
Under the software profile, the two phones will mount Android 8.0 Oreo. The Pixel 2 XL, moreover, will also have a special feature that will allow you to interact with the smartphone by simply squeezing it on the frame. This is a feature already seen on the HTC U11 and that Google has "borrowed". The Pixel 2 XL will also have the Always On display with a built-in function that automatically recognizes the songs that are played around us (a sort of Shazam always on).
Price and release date in Italy
Let's move on to the sore points: price, release date and availability in Italy of the Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL. The Pixel 2 will be available starting October 19 at a price of $649 for the 64GB version and $749 for the 128GB version. The smartphone, however, will not arrive in Italy.
