For those who want to buy one of Sony's next-gen consoles, however, all is not lost. Despite the great attention that led to stock being depleted just after sales opened, both in physical stores and online, there are still possibilities. Amazon has just announced that new stock of the console is available for sale again. Since 1pm on November 19, the PS5 console and the PS5 Digital Edition version arrived on sale in both online and physical stores and immediately sold out, just like on pre-order day. The websites were caught unprepared by the high demand, which has exhausted the available stocks in a very short time, and many have gone on tilt.
At first, it was impossible to access the online stores of Unieuro, Euronics, GameStop and Mediaworld: too many online users to grab the new console, which have clogged the servers.
The site of Unieuro went down and for at least an hour returned the message "Sorry, we are under maintenance". So it was impossible to buy a PlayStation 5, let alone any other product on sale. Stessa sorte anche per Euronics e GameStop, poi tornati online ma ormai con le scorte di PS5 terminate.
L’approccio di Mediaworld invece è stato ben diverso: per evitare il blocco del sito come i suoi competitor, ha organizzato un sistema di accesso allo store online con file di oltre 60mila utenti in coda. Per accedere, e ritrovarsi senza una PS5, è stato necessario attendere oltre 10 minuti il proprio turno per poi poter navigare per una sola sessione nel sito web.
