The season finale surprised the show's fans, who are now eagerly awaiting the third chapter: but what are the questions that the new episodes will have to answer?
The Boys 2 has come to an end, leaving many questions unanswered. The finale has thrilled a large portion of users, has disappointed others. Nevertheless, almost everyone agrees: the last episode was spectacular and managed to keep viewers glued to the small screen.
Undoubtedly, the second season of The Boys closes a complex narrative cycle. In fact, the last scenes give meaning to the stories of the characters. Hughie and Starlight succeed in fulfilling their dream of love, Annie manages to rejoin the Seven, Stormfront is apparently annihilated, while Patriot manages to survive. In short, if the narrative cycle has put the point to some situations, at the same time the last episode has brought out several questions that the third season will have to answer. We certainly know that The Boys 3 will feature new stories but some old plots will be further developed.
The Boys 2: the questions left unanswered
One of the main questions concerns Stormfront. Many wondered what is the fate of the character played by Aya Cash.
She in the finale of The Boys 2 speaks some words in German. Many wondered about the meaning? And here it is: "It was so beautiful. The three of us, sitting there in the shade of an apple tree. Do you remember that day, Frederick? Chloe had her arms out the car window. We found the perfect spot, along the river, in the shade of an apple tree. It was the first time Chloe had ever eaten fresh apples. It was wonderful. I wanted it to never end."
Frederick Vought's wife, she finds herself burned and mutilated after the confrontation with Ryan and rambles this familiar image in German, her native language. Perhaps when she utters those words she thinks she is close to death. Will her ability to self-heal bring her back? The showrunner revealed that she will not die, but at the same time she will be forced to stay in this state for a long time and so in the third season we will better understand her fate.
Another question concerns Hughie, who separates from the Boys to work in Victoria's service. We know little about her, so in the new episodes we might know better what is her origin and especially the source of her fearsome superpower, that of making people's heads explode.
In the next season, surely little Rayan will play an important role. He is the son of Homelander and Becca Butcher. Surely his future is linked to that of Billy Butcher who promised his mother to take care of the little one, before she died.
Of course, the universe of The Boys will not end with the defeat of Stormfront: Patriot is still in charge of the Seven and his son is in the hands of his arch-enemy. This detail gives birth to many hypotheses related to the development of the plot.
The Boys 3: when will it be released?
The showrunner and co-creator of the series, Eric Kriple announced that the writers are working hard on the new episodes. However, due to the pandemic, filming will not begin until 2021. "It all depends on that microscopic virus," the author announced during Comic-Con.
According to those predictions, we could see the third season of The Boys around September 2021. In the meantime, Amazon has already invested in a spin-off.
