If you have an iPhone on which Fortnite is installed, your smartphone is worth thousands of euros: here's why
An iPhone with Fortnite installed can cost even tens of thousands of euros. This is the figure with which they were put on sale on e-commerce sites some iPhone models with the application still installed, after it was deleted from both Apple's App Store and Google's Play Store.
If the diatribe on the announcement of Fortnite will continue in court, there is meanwhile who has already thought well to profit from the situation. The lucky owners of an iPhone who had downloaded Fortnite have decided to put their device up for sale on eBay at very exaggerated prices. The base price that can be found on the site of online auctions between individuals is 800 euros, but there are also those who have set the base auction at 3000 euros for newer iPhones, with figures that easily came to exceed 15000 euros.
iPhone with Fortnite, what happened
Epic Games, the company that has developed and created Fortnite, has never hidden that it doesn't appreciate the policies of Apple and Google app stores, which oblige to pay a 30% fee on downloaded apps. Epic Games tried to force the issue by implementing a new payment system that bypasses the official one provided by the App Store and Google Play Store, but within a few hours Fortnite was deleted.
The two companies did not like it and so on the night between August 13 and 14 they deleted Fortnite from the list of downloadable apps, making those very common smartphones where such a popular app is installed become "valuable". The story is not over yet, since Epic Games has appealed against the deletion of the app from the stores accusing Google and Apple of dominant position.
The saga in court of Fortnite, therefore, has just begun and it is not clear when and if we will see it again in the stores of the two giants, although Apple has already announced that if Epic Games eliminates the contested payment system in app, Fortnite will be promptly welcomed back in its App Store.
iPhone with Fortnite, prices skyrocket
Given that Fortnite may no longer be downloadable on mobile devices such as tablets and smartphones, the "lucky" owners of an iPhone where the app is installed have well thought of putting the phone up for sale. There are those who for a model not recent asks 800 euros, who instead on eBay has come to auction the iPhone even to tens of thousands of euros.
An attempt to exploit the wave of the legal dispute between Epic Games and Apple, but it does not seem to find buyers, at least for now. After all, Fortnite is a free game and is available on Nintendo Switch, PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Mac. This means that even if you won't be able to play the game on an Android smartphone or iPhone, gamers will still be able to continue their virtual adventures. And considering the popularity of the video game, it's not certain that it will be downloadable again soon.
