The Vivo X20 Plus UD is the first smartphone with an under-screen fingerprint reader. It was unveiled on January 25 in China
The Vivo X20 Plus UD, the first smartphone with an under-screen fingerprint reader is finally ready to make its debut. After admiring it at CES 2018, the fair dedicated to consumer electronics that takes place in early January in Las Vegas, Vivo, the Chinese company that made it, presented it to the general public.
The smartphone is nothing but an evolution of the Vivo X20 Plus presented last year. The technical features are the same, to change is only the fingerprint reader that is integrated under the display. A novelty that in 2018 we will see in many smartphones. And the credit goes to the U.S. company Synaptics, which has created a sensor that is easy to use and mount on devices. Some rumors talk about the possibility of seeing this sensor on as many as 60% of the devices coming out in 2018. In addition to the Vivo X20 Plus UD, other smartphones with an under-screen fingerprint reader are expected at Mobile World Congress 2018.
Features Vivo X20 Plus UD
As mentioned, the smartphone has the same features as the Vivo X20 Plus. On board we find a Snapdragon 660 chipset with 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Super AMOLED screen is 6.43 inches with an aspect ratio of 18:9 and resolution 2160×1080 pixels. Thanks to the presence of the reader under the screen, the bezels are very small, and although the screen is very large, the size of the smartphone is quite small. The photo compartment consists of a dual 12-megapixel rear camera and a 12-megapixel front camera. 3905mAh battery.
The Vivo X20 Plus UD will arrive on the Chinese market at a price of about 3600 yuan, which at current exchange rates are just over 450 euros. Will the smartphone also be available in Italy? Hard to say, but most likely you can only buy it on Chinese e-commerce sites. To see in Italy a smartphone with fingerprints under the screen we will have to wait a couple of months. Vivo is owned by the same multinational company that produces smartphones for Oppo and OnePlus, two companies that also sell their devices in Italy. And from some rumors of recent months, the OnePlus 6 should have the fingerprint reader under the screen. To see it on the market will have to wait for the month of June.
