Small and compact, it comes with microphones, speakers and a small monitor through which it interacts with the people in front of it. It is completely open source
For some time now, personal assistants with artificial intelligence - the various Siri, Google Now and Cortana, just to name a few - have been moving away from smartphones to "take possession" of the smart home. This has led to the creation of Amazon Alexa and Google Home, personal assistants capable of managing the various Internet of Things devices in the home.
Capable of perfectly understanding human language and giving answers to questions asked, these two smart speakers represent the future of the home automation system. This, however, does not mean that the two mentioned are the only ones on the market. More importantly, artificial intelligence assistants for the smart home don't necessarily have to talk. Take Peeqo, a do-it-yourself project born on the pages of Reddit and created by robotics enthusiast Abhishek Singh: it can interact with human users and make itself understood by them simply by using GIFs, the animated images that are taking over Facebook and instant messaging apps.
How Peeqo works
Similar in shape and size to the two assistants Amazon and Google, Peeqo is equipped with microphones, speakers and a monitor through which to communicate and interact with people. The small artificial intelligence robot activates as soon as it hears its own name (in the style of "Hey Siri" or "Hey Google" to be clear) and is able to manage a Spotify account thanks to a plugin developed by Singh himself.
