Details about the display of Google Pixel Fold are starting to filter out: the first foldable of Google should have a 120 Hz display produced by Samsung.
Google wants only the best for the first foldable smartphone in its history. So it has turned to Samsung, one of the companies able to provide the best products in terms of displays. Samsung is one of the most experienced companies in the field of foldable displays and is ready to make the third generation official.
On Google Pixel Fold the company aims to offer a flexible display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz. According to Ice Universe, in recent times Samsung would have pushed on the accelerator in a very decisive way just on this component slightly dropping the grip on others such as the camera, which in fact according to the leaker on Galaxy Z Fold 3 will not have major updates compared to that which has characterized the predecessor. On the contrary of the displays: Google would have noticed the progress made in Seoul and therefore would have contacted them to opt for the best possible display for Google Pixel Fold.
Samsung's progress in displays for foldable
Always to hear what reported by Ice Universe the progress made by Samsung in terms of displays for foldable smartphones will be evident from the beginning of August, when it is scheduled the event Galaxy Unpacked from which will come out the generation of foldable for 2021.
Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3 will have the "strongest folding screen technology," and it's unclear whether the leaker is referring to the degree of advancement of Samsung's technology or the strength of the panel itself, which actually turned out to be one of the main weaknesses of previous generations. Ice Universe mentions UTG 2.0 - which stands for Ultra Thing Glass, second-generation ultra-thin glass - and UPC - which stands for Under Panel Camera, an under-screen camera.
The first could refer to the generational leap made by the company to make the S Pen compatible with the Galaxy Z Fold 3 display, while the second refers to the fascinating technology that allows you to place the camera for selfies under the screen (on which Xiaomi is also working), so as to avoid holes or notches in which to insert the component, both solutions that are not aesthetically pleasing and that steal space from the display itself.
Google Pixel Fold with 120 Hz display
The theme Google Pixel Fold has been deepened by another leaker, Ross Young. Who always on Twitter has shared information in his possession that all the foldables of 2021 will have displays produced by Samsung Display with OLED technology LTPO (low power) and refresh rate of 120 Hz.
The leaker mentions a number of manufacturers whose foldables are expected, including Google that from Samsung would have opted for a 7.57-inch for the Pixel Fold. It's curious, however, how the Pixels have remained stuck at 90 Hz refresh rate (although we don't know what Google will do with the Pixel 6) while Big G has already gone straight to 120 Hz for Pixel Fold.
