Alcatel updates its 2019 Alcatel 3X smartphone with a 2020 version that brings in dowry an extra camera sensor: now there are four instead of three. The processor and battery also change, an external GPU is added while the price remains very low.
The screen, with a very particular aspect ratio, and all other technical features such as RAM and internal memory remain identical, while the size and weight and the Android operating system change. More than an update, then, we could also talk about a new smartphone built from very similar components. But always with the same goal: to position itself in a market dominated by the Chinese bigs with a fairly updated product and a price in line with the competition. Here are the technical specifications of the Alcatel 3X 2020 and how it differs from the Alcatel 3X 2019.
Alcatel 3X 2020: technical specifications
Like the previous 2019 model, the Alcatel 3X 2020 has a 6.52-inch HD+ (720×1,600 pixels) semi-curved (2.5D) IPS LCD display with a small central teardrop notch that houses the front camera, 8 Megapixel. The screen proportions, 20:9, are optimized for watching multimedia content. The SoC of the Alcatel 3X 2020 is the Mediatek MT6762 flanked by a PowerVR GE8320 GPU, while the 2019 version comes with just the Mediatek MT6763V/V SoC. Both have 4 GB of DDR4 RAM and 64 GB of internal storage expandable up to 256 GB with a microSD card.
The battery, with the 2020 version, goes up from 4,000 to 5,000 mAh. What's new is the rear camera compartment, which now has four sensors: 16 MP main (but there is a version with a 13 MP main sensor, so be careful when buying), 5 MP wide-angle, 2 MP macro and 2 MP depth. The 2019 version, on the other hand, had a 16 MP main sensor, an 8 MP wide-angle lens and a 5 MP depth sensor but no macro lens.
Alcatel 3X 2020: how much does it cost and when does it arrive
The new Alcatel 3X 2020 will arrive soon in Italy at a cost of 169 euros, with Android 10 as the operating system (the 2019 version had Android 9). On the Italian site of Alcatel is not yet purchasable, because there is still the 2019 version that costs about 100 euros. On the international site, however, the buy button is dumb and you can not buy this product. It is therefore necessary to wait a few more days, until Alcatel does not update the Italian site allowing customers in our country to buy the 2020 version of the 3X.
