Facebook down, what’s happening

Facebook is not working since 4pm on July 3. Users can't publish images, here's what's happening

Facebook isn't working: those who try to upload an image or a video to their profile receive an error message as a response. The social network is not the only one to suffer from this problem: all applications of the Facebook world are having malfunctions. WhatsApp won't let you download images and voice notes, while Instagram won't let you upload videos and photos.

The first reports from users arrived around 4pm and in no time the hashtag #facebookdown became trending topic on Twitter. The problem doesn't concern only Italy, but it's generalized all over the world: reports arrive from India, Brazil, United States. It is not the first time that Facebook services go down: the same happened last March and April. In that case the technical problem was solved within a few hours. Facebook technicians are working to understand the causes of the down and allow users to continue posting images on the social network.

Why Facebook is not working

It is difficult to find out the reason why Facebook is down. Being a problem that affects all applications of the company from Menlo Park, it is very likely that the disruption is caused by a technical error of the servers. Or from some tests made by developers that have gone wrong. In these months, in fact, Facebook technicians are carrying out tests to unify WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger and Instagram Direct. More than a few times, however, the tests have caused momentary downs to the applications. We'll continue to follow what's happening and keep you updated.

Update 01:00 a.m. July 4. WhatsApp, Instagram and Facebook issues are finally resolved.
