Tim launches the Motorola Razr with integrated eSIM: discover all the features of the offer and buy your new latest generation smartphone
In the near future, smartphones will no longer contain the classic SIM, but the so-called eSIM, that is, a virtual card that will allow you to have both the connection to the data network and the phone line, but in a different way from what we are used to.
The goal of inserting a virtual SIM in devices is to save space by producing increasingly lightweight and handy smartphones; and at the same time allow batteries to occupy more space gaining power and autonomy. Based on these goals, there are many companies that sacrifice components from cell phones. For example, Apple has decided to eliminate the 3.5mm headphone jack from its iPhones. In short, by now cell phones must contain the essentials, and the SIM can be safely replaced with the eSIM. Since a few weeks ago, virtual cards have also arrived in Italy: Tim, Vodafone and Wind already give the possibility to request or convert the eSIM, while the others will start soon (apart from Iliad).
What is an eSIM?
The word eSIM comes from Embedded SIM: it is an innovative way to conceive the SIM. This format does not have any physical support, but is integrated inside the device. In short, the SIM microchip is not printed on plastic, but directly on the logic board of the smartphone or tablet.
The advantages for both manufacturers and users are several. First of all, it shortens the time needed to switch from one operator to another, because it is no longer necessary to replace the old plastic card. In addition, it will be really difficult to lose a phone number saved in the SIM and you can change smartphones without worrying that the new slot is compatible with the old card. In short, the eSIM is a really advantageous solution. One of the smartphones that is offered with this solution is the Motorola Moto Razr, the new foldable smartphone from the U.S. manufacturer that arrives in Italy exclusively for TIM.
Features of the Motorola Razr
The Motorola Razr was one of the most anticipated smartphones of 2020. It is a return to the origins in a modern way: in fact, its design takes up the idea of the old cell phones that opened as a clamshell. Only, in this case, it's a smartphone with a folding screen with a completely different design than the Galaxy Fold and the Mate X.
The new Motorola Razr has two displays: one external 2.7 inches and an internal one that, when opened, reaches the size of 6.2 inches. In short, the size of a normal smartphone, but with a form factory and dimensions far smaller than those to which we are accustomed.
