It should not be surprising then that many are wondering how to create a podcast on Spotify. We're going to find out together, looking at all the available solutions in detail. First of all, we're going to explore some platforms that allow you to automatically upload your audio content to Spotify, then we're going to focus on the detailed procedure to publish a podcast on Spotify via Spotify for Podcaster, the platform for publishing audio content on the Swedish platform, which uses RSS links.
Creating a podcast on Spotify: what to know
Still before getting into the heart of our guide and understand in detail how to create a podcast on Spotify, we need to make a necessary premise. Not everyone in fact knows it, but on the well-known music service there is no possibility to directly upload the audio file of a podcast, but only to publish its RSS feed. This means that, in order to publish our podcast on Spotify, we'll necessarily have to create an RSS feed that contains it, choosing between two alternative ways, both absolutely valid.
The first one involves creating the RSS feed manually, a solution suitable for those who have their own website where they upload their podcasts directly, to be then conveyed on the Spotify for Podcasters platform. The other one is the simplest one, and involves using external platforms to create podcasts, which allow you to automatically distribute your podcast on Spotify without having to send it through the Spotify for Podcasters platform.
Whichever methodology you choose, another preliminary aspect to take into account is the actual content you want to go and create and later share with your listeners. Now that we've learned the basics, let's see how to create a podcast on Spotify automatically, without leaving out any important steps. In a scenario like this, we'll have to rely on ad hoc platforms, among which two stand out in particular. These are Podomatic and Spreaker, which are very good for promoting your content on the famous music streaming service.
Podomatic
The first useful platform for publishing your podcast on Spotify is Podomatic. A platform that also allows for live events. Its free plan provides users with 500 MB of storage space and 15 GB of monthly traffic, along with basic statistics for podcasts. Il servizio offre la possibilità di inviare automaticamente i propri podcast a piattaforme esterne, come Spotify, Apple Podcasts e Google Podcasts. Per creare un podcast su Podomatic dobbiamo seguire pochi e semplici passaggi, ovvero:
- colleghiamoci al sito web ufficiale di Podomatic
- accediamo alla piattaforma cliccando sulla voce Login
- in alternativa creiamo un account cliccando “Join Us", “Sign up with Facebook/Google", oppure “Sign up with email", per poi inserire i nostri dati e cliccare su “Next"
- creiamo una password
- spuntiamo la voce Non sono un robot
- infine scegliamo la voce “Done"
Una volta completata la registrazione, siamo pronti per pubblicare il nostro primo podcast su Podomatic, seguendo questi passaggi nel menu principale del nostro account:
- clicchiamo sulla voce “Create“
- pigiamo in seguito su “Add files“
- selezioniamo il file audio che vogliamo caricare sulla piattaforma
- scegliamo poi “Start upload" e attendiamo che il caricamento si completi al 100%

A questo punto mancano gli ultimissimi passaggi per caricare il nostro podcast su Spotify tramite Podomatic:
- clicchiamo nuovamente su “Create“
- in seguito pigiamo sulla voce “Manage“
- clicchiamo ora su “Settings" e scegliamo la voce “Directories“
- selezioniamo l’opzione “Spotify"
- alla fine inviamo il nostro podcast cliccando su “Submit Podcast“

Anche questa piattaforma è gratuita, ma attivando uno dei piani a pagamento è possibile anche impostare la condivisione automatica dei propri podcast su Spotify e altre piattaforma dedicate. Creare un podcast su Spreaker è davvero molto semplice, e basta seguire pochi passaggi essenziali:
- colleghiamoci al sito ufficiale di Spreaker
- registriamoci cliccando sul pulsante presente in alto a destra dello schermo
- compiliamo tutti gli spazi con i nostri dati
- clicchiamo su “Registrati" ricordandoci di accettare le condizioni di utilizzo del servizio
- verifichiamo il nostro indirizzo di posta elettronica aprendo l’email inviataci da Spreaker
- clicchiamo su “Piano e prezzi" scegliendo il piano che fa al caso nostro, dai 7 ad un massimo di 50 euro mensili
- clicchiamo subito dopo su “Passa a pro“
- scegliamo infine se attivare la fatturazione mensile o annuale, pagando tramite carta di credito o PayPal
A questo punto avremo ultimato tutte le richieste in fase di registrazione, e saremo liberi di caricare il nostro podcast:
- clicchiamo sull’immagine visibile in alto a destra
- selezioniamo la voce “Crea un nuovo show“
- carichiamo un’immagine di copertina per il nostro podcast
- inseriamo i dati nei campi Titolo, Lingua e Categoria, tra Notizie, Sport, Cultura, Tecnologia e così via , e clicchiamo poi sul tasto “Crea"
- nella nuova schermata selezioniamo “Carica episodi" per caricare i file del podcast
- clicchiamo su “Pubblica adesso" e confermiamo con l’opzione “Sì, pubblica“
- selezioniamo poi l’opzione “Distribuzione" nella barra a destra e clicchiamo sull’icona di Spotify prima di scegliere “Invia"
Finalmente il nostro podcast è stato così caricato, e dovremo attendere solo qualche ora prima che lo staff di Spotify lo renderà automaticamente disponibile sulla piattaforma di streaming. Potremo visualizzare l’URL nel box Spotify della già citata sezione Distribuzione.
Come pubblicare un podcast su Spotify manualmente
Se abbiamo optato per la creazione manuale di un feed RSS o ci siamo affidati a una piattaforma che consente di ottenere e personalizzare il feed RSS di un podcast, allora dobbiamo esplorare l’opzione su come caricare un podcast su Spotify in modo diretto e manuale. In questo caso, dovremo necessariamente accedere alla piattaforma dedicata messa in piedi dall’azienda, vale a dire Spotify for Podcasters. Ecco tutti i passaggi da seguire:
- dal nostro dispositivo colleghiamoci al sito ufficiale https://podcasters.spotify.com/
- clicchiamo sull’opzione di “Login" in alto a destra dello schermo
- facciamo accesso al nostro account Spotify, utilizzando Facebook o le credenziali con cui ci siamo registrati
- se non abbiamo ancora un account Spotify, allora selezioniamo la voce “Iscriviti a Spotify", compiliamo il modulo di registrazione con tutti i dati e alla fine clicchiamo su “Iscriviti"
- entriamo quindi con il nostro account Spotify e clicchiamo sulla voce"Submit Your podcast“
- inseriamo a questo punto il link RSS del nostro podcast nel campo apposito, ovvero Link to RSS feed, e clicchiamo poi su “Next"
- nella nuova schermata andiamo a premere sul tasto “Send code“
- riceveremo all’indirizzo di posta associato al link RSS del nostro podcast un codice di 8 cifre, dalla validità di un’ora
- copiamo e incolliamo il codice ricevuto nella sezione Verification code per poi cliccare su “Next"
Siamo quasi alla fine dell’operazione, che per essere conclusa ha bisogno di altri pochi passaggi, così da pubblicare il podcast su Spotify:
- nella nuova schermata denominata Tell us more about your Podcast inseriamo le informazioni richieste
- specifichiamo la piattaforma con cui abbiamo caricato il nostro podcast dal menu Select hosting provider
- selezioniamo la categoria del podcast nel menu a tendina Select category e clicchiamo su “Next"
- infine inviamo il podcast cliccando il tasto “Submit"
Se l’operazione sarà andata a buon fine, vedremo apparire un messaggio Nice! We got your podcast, che conferma per l’appunto che il podcast è stato correttamente inviato. Una volta approvato, sarà disponibile dopo poche ore sui lidi della nota piattaforma di streaming musicale.
