On board we find a Kirin 970 chipset, 4GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage. Dual rear cameras and completely revised design
In an event organized in Paris, Huawei has taken the veils off the new P20, P20 Pro and Mate RS (real last-minute surprise). For the Chinese company this is a revolution compared to the recent past: the smartphones have innovative features, such as the three rear cameras (present on the P20 and Mate RS) and the notch at the top of the screen.
The Huawei P20 is the "basic" smartphone (if it can be so defined, since it has the typical features of a top of the range) among the three presented by the Chinese company. It is a device of break and change for Huawei: after the not excellent results of the P10, a change of style and pace was needed. With the P20 in one fell swoop Huawei says goodbye to 16:9 screens and smartphones with very obvious bezels. The smartphone has a modern design: large display, very thin bezels and the notch at the top of the screen where the front camera was inserted. A smartphone that winks at the iPhone X, but takes the concept to the extreme and manages to integrate the fingerprint sensor in the front of the display.
Features Huawei P20
Of the three smartphones presented by Huawei, the P20 is the least performing. But reading the data sheet of the device you realize that it is still a top of the line. On board we find the Kirin 970 chipset (the same present on the Huawei Mate 10 Pro) that integrates a Neural Processing Unit for artificial intelligence. In support are 4GB of RAM and 128GB of non-expandable internal storage. Artificial intelligence ensures better management of processes and savings in terms of consumption: the 3400mAh battery allows you to get through the day without too many problems. The FullView screen has a diagonal of 5.8 inches and a FullHD+ resolution. The aspect ratio is 18.7:9 (slightly longer than normal due to the presence of the notch).
For the new smartphone, Huawei has invested time and money in developing a photo compartment that is better than that of any other smartphone on the market. And the results obtained by the Huawei P20 on DXoMark, the benchmark for photo sensor benchmarks, seem to prove it right: the smartphone received a score of 102, the highest ever recorded so far (it was only surpassed by the P20 Pro, the "big" brother that features three rear cameras). This score was obtained thanks to a dual rear camera with a 12 Megapixel main sensor with a focal aperture of 1.8 and a 20 Megapixel secondary sensor with a focal aperture of 1.6 and dedicated to black and white images. The front camera is 24 Megapixels, one of the best on the market. Much of the credit for the results of the P20 is not only the photo sensors, but also the artificial intelligence system developed by Huawei and that helps the user to take better images. The camera also integrates Huawei's AIS (AI Image Stabilization) technology, which helps in not taking blurry images and recording perfect videos.
Improvements in the audio department as well, thanks to the presence of the new Huawei DAC Headphone Amplifier. The smartphone has a cart with dual SIM slots: both cards support 4G. The Huawei P20 will arrive on the market with Android Oreo 8.1 customized with EMUI 8.1.
