Iliad, fixed network is coming: agreement with Open Fiber

Iliad is entering into an agreement with Open Fiber to launch offers for the fixed line market. The debut is scheduled for 2021

Not only Sky. The Italian market of fixed telephony is ready for a new shake-up: also Iliad is speeding up the practices to debut as soon as possible. It's no secret that Iliad wants to launch offers also for the fixed network: initially the arrival was scheduled for 2024, but, as said by the CEO of the company, it could be anticipated even to 2021. And the news published by Milano Finanza do nothing but confirm this hypothesis.

Iliad, in fact, would be intensifying exchanges with Open Fiber to sign an agreement as soon as possible: the phone operator, in fact, wants to take advantage of the network architecture that the company is building throughout Italy. The same choice made by Sky that will rely on the network built by the company shared by Enel and Cassa Depositi e Prestiti for its debut in the fixed network. Open Fiber, in fact, offers costs all in all acceptable for companies that want to launch offers for the fixed network and a coverage that is slowly covering the whole Peninsula.

Iliad, soon will come the fixed network

Milano Finanza tells of an acceleration in the negotiations between Iliad and Open Fiber to sign a commercial agreement in view of the debut of the telephone operator in the fixed network. The agreement will allow Iliad to use the network built by Open Fiber for ultrafast fiber. Iliad's debut is not expected to be as short as that of Sky (which will present its first offers next June 16): the company's objective is to continue to grow in the mobile market, make its position more solid and attack the new sector with really convenient offers. A probable hypothesis is 2021, but there are no confirmations.

Iliad, how will be the offers for the fixed network

Iliad has represented a real shake-up for the Italian mobile market. And it wants to be the same in fixed telephony as well. For this reason it is very likely that Iliad is already thinking about the first offers, with low and fixed prices, without any hidden costs. The same philosophy that has accompanied it in the SIM market.

The phone operator could also study offers that include the combination with video streaming services, in order to ride the wave of convergence that is becoming increasingly strong in the telephony market, and not only. On the other hand Iliad already in France proposes offers for the fixed network that include the cable TV subscription. An experience to be proposed also in Italy.
