Iliad network problems, the fault is not of the phone operator

The problems with the Iliad network (signal quality and download speed) are not always to be blamed on the phone operator: here's why

Iliad is the fourth Italian phone operator: arrived in May last year in a short time has managed to conquer a good slice of the market thanks to aggressive offers and excellent value for money. As is normal, Iliad had to discount youthful problems and more than a few times users have reported inefficiencies with the network. Problems to make calls, download speed too slow or difficulties with the 4G network.

The fault of all these problems, however, is not always Iliad. In most of Italy, in fact, the operator relies on the Wind Tre network and many of the problems that Iliad has to face depend on this factor. Despite the many investments made in the last year by the phone operator to become independent and install proprietary antennas, the work is still slow due to bureaucratic problems. For the moment Iliad has installed about 500 new sites and the goal is to get to 3500 antennas by the end of 2019 to ensure a better service to its customers.

Iliad network, news in the coming months

For Iliad customers the situation in the coming months should improve for two reasons: the activation of new proprietary antennas that will allow users to connect directly to the Iliad line and on the other hand the end of the work of Wind Tre's 4.5G super network. If Iliad has set a target of the end of 2019 to activate 3500 antennas, Wind Tre wants to complete the 4.5G line by the end of the summer.

What changes for Iliad customers? A lot, especially for those who are not covered by the Iliad network. With Wind Tre's new fast network, both signal quality and download and upload speeds should increase and get on the same level as other Italian phone operators.

Iliad, also working on 5G

In addition to being busy activating new sites to build an independent network for 4G, Iliad is also working on the 5G front. The phone operator has participated in the MiSE auction for the purchase of frequencies and has managed to obtain three blocks. Now begins the phase of experimentation and work for the installation of antennas: the goal is to activate the first sites within a few months/years. With the arrival of the 5G network, the speed and quality of the Iliad signal will take a decisive step forward.
