Apple could launch by the end of the year a new low cost model: the iPhone XE or iPhone SE X. Here are the characteristics
It would already be under construction the second version of the iPhone SE, low cost smarphone launched by Apple in early 2016 and until now unmatched for price/performance ratio. This is reported by sources inside Foxconn, the Taiwanese company that has been assembling Apple's smartphones for years. The new budget smartphone of the bitten apple would currently be in production in India and should have a new name: not iPhone SE 2, but iPhone SE X or iPhone XE.
Where the X clearly recalls the edge-to-edge design of the iPhone X and XS, but also the iPhone XR that Apple would plan to discontinue due to poor commercial results. It would be a device of relatively small dimensions: the screen, AMOLED and with notch, is in fact 4.8 inches large. Screen that, among other things, would not have the integrated fingerprint sensor, replaced by Face ID. If the first iPhone SE was nothing more than an iPhone 6 packaged in the body of an iPhone 5, this iPhone XE or SE 2 should be a derivative in miniature of the XR. Or so it would seem from early rumors.
How will the iPhone SE X, or iPhone XE
Apple's new budget smartphone will have a more rectangular body than seen on recent models and may inherit from the XR the single 12 MP rear camera with f/1.8 aperture. Since there is no fingerprint sensor, neither integrated into the display nor positioned elsewhere, unlocking the iPhone XE could be done via Face ID. Unknown at the moment the processor: the hypothesis lean towards the A11 and A12, with the latter less likely for a question of cost. The body will be made of aluminum and not glass and there will be no wireless charging but only the traditional one.
iPhone XE: price and release date
Sources inside Foxconn say that the iPhone XE (or iPhone SE X, if you prefer) will hit the market in the third quarter of this year, so presumably by late summer. It will be built in India by another Taiwanese company: Wistron, a partner of Apple that receives government subsidies from the "Make in India" initiative. The same manufacturer has already built the iPhone SE, iPhone 6S and even the iPhone 7 for Apple. The selling price of Apple's new 2019 low-cost smartphone is expected to vary, depending on the internal storage denomination, between $600 and $800. That is, between 530 and 700 euros at current exchange rates. If these rumors were to be confirmed, then Apple's 2019 new smartphone range would consist of iPhone XE, iPhone XI, and iPhone XI Plus by the end of the year.
