Mario Kart Tour will arrive by March 2019, while for Tekken the release date is set for February 15, 2017. Here's what to expect from the two games
Smartphones are becoming increasingly important in the strategies of video game development companies. The number of cell phones on the market is far greater than that of consoles and the audience of possible players easily exceeds one billion.
For this reason, companies like Nintendo and Bandai Namco, among the most important software houses in the world, have decided to bet heavily on this new sector. And for 2018 they have announced big surprises. Nintendo is developing Mario Kart Tour, a video game that will feature the Italian plumber and his fellow adventurers, engaged in racing races to the last breath. Bandai Namco, however, is ready to release the first game for smartphones dedicated to the world of Tekken.
What Mario Kart Tour will look like
Nintendo's announcement that it is working on the development of Mario Kart Tour has delighted the fan base, which has long been waiting for a mobile Mario Kart video game. But to see the application will have to wait a little longer. The Kyoto-based company has promised that the game will be available by the end of the 2018 fiscal year, which ends in March 2019. So another year before we see it on the Google Play Store and the App Store. Nintendo didn't want to release any anticipation on how the game will be, but already from the name you can guess that we will have to face a tour around the world and challenge other drivers. DeNA, the company that supports Nintendo in the development of the architecture of video games for smartphones and tablets and who is also working on Super Mario Kart has let slip an important anticipation: the game will be based free, but will have inside the micro-transactions to move forward in the game. The same model used for Super Mario Run, where the first chapters were free and then you had to pay to get the next levels. For the Kyoto-based company, this is the fifth mobile title after Super Mario Run, Fire Emblem Heroes, Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Miitomo.
How will Tekken for smartphones
Tekken fans won't have to wait until next year to see the video game on their smartphones. Bandai Namco has announced that the game will be available on the Google Play Store and the App Store from February 15, 2018. But those who were hoping that it would be a fighting game will have to think again. Tekken is a CCG, aka a card battle video game. Simply put, Tekken is a trading card game in the style of Hearthstone. Gamers will be able to improve their character using cards won during fights or by purchasing them from the online store.
