The wait for Halo Infinite is coming to an end: Microsoft has announced the global launch date for the first multiplayer season and a celebratory console for fans of the series
While waiting for the Halo-inspired TV series coming in early 2022, let's get ready to play the first multiplayer season of Halo Infinite a little earlier on Xbox Series X|S: Microsoft announced the launch date during Opening Night of Gamescon 2021.
Halo Infinite will arrive on December 8, 2021, so about a year later than originally planned, which was supposed to coincide with the launch of the new Xbox next gen. But between development difficulties and consequences of the pandemic, this title has been waiting and finally arrives exactly 20 years after the launch of the first chapter: Halo Combat Evolved, released on November 14, 2001. The anniversary will also be celebrated with a new wireless controller and a new Xbox Series X, both adorned with a skin celebrating the video game series that has sold more than 80 million copies worldwide in its two-decade history.
The new Xbox and the new controller
The new Xbox Series X Halo Infinite Limited Edition console will be sold, at $549.99/euro, starting November 15, 2021. The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 - Halo Infinite Limited Edition alone will cost 200 euros instead. The new console varies from the one already on sale only for aesthetics and for the limited series: it is a collector's item, dedicated to fans of the Halo series.
Note that, although the new console still does not exist, someone is already reselling it second-hand at over a thousand dollars. The scalpers never stop working.
